    Beer magnate arrested for DUI

Beer magnate and former Republican U.S. Senate candidate Pete Coors was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and is due to appear in court on the charges next Thursday.
A Colorado State Patrol trooper pulled Coors over after he saw him run a stop sign around the corner from his home in Golden about 11:25 p.m. on May 28.
Coors stopped in his driveway and consented to take a Breathalyzer test. He registered a .088, which is slightly above the .08 legal blood-alcohol limit in Colorado.
He was driving a 2004 green Jaguar, court records show.
Coors spokeswoman Kabira Hatland said the 59-year-old was coming home from a friend's wedding in Denver.
"I made a mistake by driving myself home after a friend's wedding celebration," Coors said in a written statement, shortly after news of his arrest was first reported on DenverPost.com. "I should have planned ahead for a ride. For years I've advocated the responsible use of our Company's products. That's still my message, and our Company's message, and it's the right message. I am sorry that I didn't follow it myself."
Coors was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and registering a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit. He was also cited for running the stop sign.

see the irony would have been better if he was wasted on someone else beer such as natty lite, budweiser, or miller, now that would have been funny. my beer is soo bad that i'll drink natty lite! however i do value coors more than budweiser

I drink Coors Light when I want to drink a light beer... I like it... but I normally drink Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale. Best beer ever!

Yeah I agree. Not going to roast or condem him. Tough break. He didn't try to rationalize or defend his position either. People make mistakes. Should he go to court? Sure, but should he be berated by everyone because he happens to own Coors? I don't think so.

i don't like dark beers all that much. the only beers that i could drink a lot of are rolling rock or miller high life. but yeah Pete Coors owned up to his wrong doing and took it like a man, no excuses or complaining. granted .008 over is a little much for the cop to take him to court.

indeed... dark beer is the way... :) thats why we keep guinness on tap.

    .008???? don't you mean .08? hehe

(not part of reply to E)
In Colorado you can be released from the scene without a citation for .049 and under... .05-.079 are DWI and .80+ is considered DUI

They recently implemented a zero tolerance for alcohol here, if you read anything on the breathalyzer they suspend your licence for 24 hours (no fine htough, just the hassle of finding another way home), but the intoxication limit is still 0.08...
