    485 miles on 12.3 gallons!

    Did a little roadtripping over memorial day weekend. Thats the farthest I've ever gone on a tank of gas. It ends up being 39.4 mpg, through crappy traffic, and pretty much driving it like I stole it. I'll have to try to break the 500 mile barrier at some point. Do prizms/corollas have a low fuel warning?

    My 8th gen has one but it only comes on when there is only like 3 gallons in the tank.

    But thats not bad man, I did 400 miles on 10 gallons

    Edit:::
    My average speed was about 65 mph

    My car gets about 18 - 20 mpg when I drive it hard and probably 30 at best when I'm running in vacuum. But its boosted :D

    Mine had a warning light too..never put much more than 11 gallons in (even after stretching it a bit), so I'm guessing I still had 3 - 3.5gal left when the light came on. I think the best mileage I got was ~41mpg highway.

    Damn you... ;-)

    I wish I got near that in my Tundra, but I do get about 16-18MPG depending on tire pressure and driving habits. I wouldn't trade in my truck though, too much fun to drive. :-D

    hehe my avg's (boosted mind you)

    drivin like i stole it.. -> 26-29mpg
    normal city/hwy mix driving.. -> 29-32mpg
    all hwy (road trip) -> 32-36mpg

    btw... if im not mistaken, the cap on newer rolla tanks is 13 gal. your fuel light may be broke - don't get too cocky.

    I try not to let it get below an 1/8th of a tank. I've had it lower than that and no light came on, so it must be broken.

    and your gas guage... you drive a prizm right? which is modeled on the 8th gen corollas if i'm not mistaken... they only have 12-13 gallon tanks, so your light should have been on @ 11 gallons used and you should have been below E.

    The gas light on Corolla's only go on when its just about on the empty line (my '94, I could drive with black showing between the empty line and the needle :S lol).

    however, the fill light is *not* based off of where your needle is on your tach. it's based on a secondary sensor where the fuel level sensor is. a float raises up and down a circuit panel indicating fuel levels. once the amount of fuel in the tank gets to a certain level, the light comes on. (coinciding with the marker at e) if there is anything such as corrosion keeping signal from being sent after a certain point, that could also cause the guage to hang at a certain point and no longer report as it goes farther down the circuit panel eventually turning on the light.

    I only get ~17mpg with my Tacoma, but it's lifted with 33s. ;)

    My rolla was indicating darn near empty when the light finally came on.

    Yeah, my light must not work. Mind you, when I fill my car up I fill it until gas is pretty much at the threads where the cap screws on, especially if I can get gas cheap.

    well technically its all part of the same assembly, so it could be deemed part of the same sensor assembly, however - they are two seperate entities on the same circuit board. :)
