Those old mustangs are slow though, heh... someone I knew had a 95 3.8 V6 automatic and in a race up to about 140kmh, he would only pull about half a car length on my 94 Corolla 3 Speed automatic...

Any mods or plans for your car?

I used to have a 94 mustang 3.8L, they are very slow, my corolla could beat it any day, 0-60 and 1/4 mile

The 3.8 V6 mustang didn't have anything on the 3400 series 3.4 in my '96 Firebird either. V6 mustangs are not speedy...AT ALL.

    1994 Ford Mustang Base

    Engine: 3.8 Liter V6 - 145hp @ 4000rpm
    Weight: 3065lbs

    Power/Weight Ratio: 21.14lbs / hp

    2001 Toyota Corolla CE

    Engine: 1.8 Liter I4 / 125hp @ 5800rpm
    Weight: 2410lbs

    Power/Weight Ratio: 19.28lbs / hp

Of course there are other factors when considering comparing any vehicles for speed related purposes, such as gearing, cD (coefficient of drag), power/torque spreads, etc... but power/weight is usually a pretty decent indicator, and as you can see, the Corolla has it all over the Mustang V6... heh...

hehe, that 2 lbs makes a lot of difference :D

I remember my mustang's torque was good between 5-15mph at most, beyond that it was pretty gutless

You should see how teh old 5.0's perform. Ford engineers were able to squeeze a whopping 200HP out of only 5.0Liters. geneous! But you have to admit, Ford's engineering have gotten bette over the last few years, ever since they hired Hau Thai-Tang as their chief engineer.

    You forgot one... *grin*

    1999 Toyota Corolla LE Turbo
    Engine: 1.8 Liter I4 / 235hp @ 5700rpm
    Weight: 2635 lbs
    Power/Weight Ratio: 11.2 lbs / hp

Of course with my ass in there its more like 12.4 lbs / hp lol

I need to get some other things tweaked out on my ride, been trying to get to a 10:1 ratio for quite some time now, just can't seem to get there without spending more fuckin money. RAWR!

The lower the number, the better... its basically how many lbs of car there is for each hp, the less lbs = teh better, heh

^technically you mean weight/power, he mighta been confused.

My friend's got a 2003 Stang V6 w/ auto tranny. Pretty damn quick, but then again it's newer and has 193 hp and 225 ft/lbs. He always leaves me in the dust, except around hard turns (my rolla's lowered). And I like the fact that it's RWD. Even though it has traction control, you can turn it off :D

The thing with the V6 Mustangs is that the redline on the tach is waaay too conservative. I think it's ~5500, but most people with a 5-speed shift around 6200/6300. When you're in an auto tranny car you can tell, too, because there's a surge of power that comes on just before it shifts into the next gear.

    Reving!!!!!!!!!!

    his 94 v6
    1st gear 35mph
    2nd gear 54mph

    this is redline.
when we race, he hits 70mph 2nd gear , i think at around 6200.

What's the most i can rev mine at, cuz im dying 2 hit 60mph in 2nd gear, but its always around 55, 56mph????
