Does celica st ecu fit the corolla?

I'm looking into getting a different ecu cause I still have an automatic ecu and its robbing my car of its full potential. I'm wanting to know if the celica st ecu will plug up to the car, so that I can use a celica m/t ecu. I'm wanting to use the celica cause there's probably better performance tuning to it compared to the corolla ecu.

you guys are on the wrong level for him. You're in 8th gen and 9th gen land for corollas and he's in 7th. Also he asked about a Celica ST ECU --- ST's are from the generation PREVIOUS to the xZZ equipped ones. Don't confuse the poor guy. :)

wow , thats hefty, i got mine for 70 bucks but i decided NOT to spend days making the harness to adapt it to my existing wiring... (i'm lazy!! :D)

for real guys, lol. I'm wanting to get a manual ecu to get better performance out of my mods compared to the auto one and I'm thinking celica might give me a bit more kick.
I found one for like 100 bucks so I'm interested in getting it, but before I do I need to make sure it works.

I never knew a manual transmission ecu would give more power to an automatic. Id be surprised how well the auto would work (or even work at all) if its an ECT.

i believe he did an auto to manual conversion already. but he still has the old auto ecu.

i remember a discussion of this before for the 8th gen corolla. i think believe it worked but you had to modifty something to get the reverse function. I"m not a hundred percent sure but it was on vvti.net where the discussion took place. you should do a search, that might be of some help.

ya I know what your talking about the reverse thing. I already taken care of that, its the reverse lights coming on is what your talking about. I'm just need to clarify about the ecu cause I'm pretty sure the auto ecu's fuel cut and curves are different from the manual. People who have done auto to manual swaps on other cars tell me that keeping the auto ecu will hold back the car's true potential. And what I've done to the car I know it should be faster cause If I'm beating civics, eclipse and some integras with an auto ecu it should go faster.

i can tell you that when racer25 (from corolla-racing) had his ae102... he had a 7afe.. and had done an auto-5 speed swap... along with some other work.... he kept that ecu, but had modified it so that the rev's would be higher, but that's it.... when i still had the 4afe in my ae92... he LITERALLY still walked away from me in that car.....

what are you able to rev to at this point?

ya that's my main concern is my fuel cut from the ecu. I'm only getting like about 6200 or something close to. I'd like to find out how to modify the revs cause that would help it alot. It seems like some cars stay reved up higher then my car and I beat because of third gear.

the only other way to do it is get a celica GT (2000+) ECU and splicing it into your harness. that will raise your fuel cut from 6200 to around 6500 rpm.

    ^^ wow nice info!

that wont work for you fastrolla cuz you dont have a 1zz-fe. the above information is pertinent to 00-02 corollas with manual transmission.

what is this ecu swap in to an 8th gen rolla? Can I swap a celica GT ecu and get some extra HP for cheap?

is there any that are direct swaps.. ie. no wire cuts

nope, cant do it without cutting wires unless you had an auto once but converted it to manual. then it will plug n play but your radiator fan will be on all the time.

hmm, how many wires have to change? if it's only a couple I might still do it.

when i was working on the pinout i made 45 entries (splices) into the spreadsheet. i got this far and stopped, i dont even remember if i finished or not. let me know if you want the spreadsheet or the ecu, for that matter.

It makes no really different in which ecu you used the only thing that i have seen it that the ceilca st ecu makes less hp but has a better fuel curve then the corolla but all in all they both the same. In all the 7th gen i've seen toyota used a different module to controlle the transmission on the 4spd auto unless you have a 3spd auto then its controlle by a cable on the throtle body.

well who wants to go through the hassle of finding the right ecu then rewiring the car only to gain 300rpm's???

if you know what you're doing you can replace something very simple inside the ecu (you need to know what you're doing, or have someone who knows what they're doing do it) and basically you can be limitless on where you 'set' the revlimiter

as i've said several times before.... my 4afe ecu revs my 4age to 7800rpm's....

Well once I get my engine back and running and putting new rod bearings in I'll figure out what to do with my rpm curves.

if i had a spare 4afe ecu (early) then i could see the difference between them and know how to do it

of course, i would charge to do it....
