    Toyota Alarm piezo location

Hey, I have the VIP Toyota alarm on my 2002 corolla. About two weeks ago it stopped making the piezo chirping sound every time I armed and disarmed it. I kinda miss that sound. Does anyone know where they normally install the "device" that makes that chirping sound? I'm pretty sure the sound came from the engine bay...but where in the engine bay?

See, that's what I thought...but I don't remember ever seeing a black loud speaker in the engine bay...hmmm... Right before it stopped working it gave me one final, weak, and exhausted piezo chirp...sad...sad.

On a side note...where is your's located exactly?

in my 00 corolla, the chirper was inside the engine bay close to the firewall towards the top middle. It was a black circular thing with a red dot in the middle. I only found it cause someone thought it would be funny to play around with the alarm while I had my head in the engine bay looking for something.

It's been over two years, I'm out of college, and I finally have some free time in my work schedule to work on my neglected Corolla.

I'm resurrecting this thread b/c I still really miss that "beep-beep" sound. It was so unique, a higher pitch than most Toyota's. I don't care if I have to remove body panels I need to know where that dead piezo is so I can replace it with a new one.

    Two questions:

    1. Where are technicians usually taught to install it? (B/c it isn't in plain sight in the engine bay)

    2. What does it look like? I would like a little clarification on "a black circular thing with a red dot in the middle".

Finally found the little bugger zip-tied to the MAF wires. I never thought to ask why there was a big lump of foam tape just sitting there.

Thanks for the picture! Would it be overkill to replace it with a DEI 513T piezo siren? Lol.
