How do you get your car tuned?

People has been telling me that I need to get my car tuned and that it needs it badly cause I'm running an automatic ecu with a manual car and that doing this will make my car go alot faster. I'm trying to figure out what things to adjust or whatever so that my car can run at optimum level. My friend says he can have my car dynoed and have the ecu and the motor tuned to make the car run better, but I'm wondering what can they do with virtually a stock motor.

I'm wondering what they can do to a stock ECU... normally you'd need either piggyback ECU or something similar (like an Apexi S-AFC) or a standalone programmable ECU (Like an AEM EMS).

your friends aren't toyota savvy..... toyota ecu's aren't programmable... they aren't eprom based ecu's like many other cars are..... (which at that point you just need the hardware/software to burn the eproms)... the only modifications you can do to the ecu are physical modifications.... and from the sounds of it, i wouldn't suggest this to you

There's no point in retuning your ecu with a stock engine.

I think my car is running rich, so I may try to get mine tuned as well. It'll have to wait until I finish with repair costs though.
