Hmmm, what should I do with all this stuff?



What you see:
Refurbished and warranteed Garrett T3 60 Turbo, internal wastegate
Oil feed and drain flanges
Front-mount intercooler
Turbo manifold parts and flanges for downpipe (still needs to be built)
T-bolt clamps and silicone connectors
SMT6 Piggyback Computer for ignition and fuel control(will come preprogrammed) with harness
Bosch BOV (Porshe version)
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
Spearco Boost Guage (probably will not be included)

What's missing:
440cc Injectors (have them, forgot to put them in the pic)
Intercooler piping
Downpipe
Oil and water lines
Intake and filter

Those items will be built on the car.

There will also be an upgrade option for a GT25 or GT28 turbo, among other things. Stay tuned for more updates next month when the test car arrives

sounds nice and im glad its finally in the works, excited to see the turn out. One question, since the 1zz, and im speakin from a non-vvti standpoint, redlines around 6k why the choice to go t4 instead of say a garrett t25, which if im not mistaken would boost around 500-1000 rpm sooner, early boost would be very helpfull on such a short power curve.

That's a T3, not a T4. T4 would be too bid for typical use for sure, a T3/T4 hybrid wouldn't be bad for real high power levels (built engine). T25 is too small, in my opinion. This turbo is sized to give good response and maximum efficiency through the middle/upper end of the powerband on the 1ZZFE.

For sure doc (98 1zz by the way), anyway i prolly woudn't have the cash until mid-summer which is the only problem.

Dr.Tweak, i would like to know if the 1zz engine would matched a 6 speed tranny from celica or matrix? I'm thinking of going on this route rather than changing my 1zz engine to 2zz. I have a matic but planning on swapping it into standard.

Doc. Once you have a test car and get everything installed / bugs worked out you might want to think about requiring some kind of upfront deposit for those interested in the kit. That'll weed out the serious buyers from the dreamers, and you'll be less likely to have 50 people posting "I'll buy one" then ending up with 10 buyers.

Oh and when this is all done, people wont have to worry about the pitfalls of buying a SF kit. Good Job!

Are you going to build it in SC?

I think he meant automatic as opposed to manual transmission. I was a bit confused when i read it as well.

The first kit is being built before I go down, once I get down then then the kit will go into full production.

Yeap, we're moving the shop to a larger facility in Savannah, it's only 40 minutes from where we are now.

It will have full installtion instructions and I can give you tech support, I'm hoping to keep the cost under $3000.

Dr.Tweak, what i meant by matic is my 00" corolla is a automatic not matrix. Just to clarify things out. Will the ECU recognize the 5-6 speed tranny or do i need to get the computer for it?

Oh, I gotcha. Yes, the auto ECU will be okay, but you have to wire some resistor s into the harness. Or, you can just buy an auto ECU.

i see that you have an ecu piggy back system. is that programmed for the VVT i engine or will it work for a non vvti engine like mine?

There will be a different program for each, the piggyback will work on either one.

Dr.Tweak, are you also going to make a supercharger for the corolla? between what year are you going to make it for? Any idea on how much boost will it go for?

Dr.Tweak you mention about the automatic tranny that when i swap it into a 5 or 6 speed tranny i just need to put a resistor on the ecu? where inside the ECU will i put the resistor and what value?

How much does a 5-6 speed tranny go for? Do you have one on stock?

I have been thinking of making an installation kit for the TRD supercharger to install into the '98-'02 Corollas, but I'm not sure if I will or not. I think that runs like 4-7 psi or something like that.

You wire the resistors into the harness to replace the shift solonoids, I think you need 25 ohm 15 watt resistors but I'm not sure, you can email me at drtweak@truboost.com and I'll look it up.

You should be able to find a 5-speed tranny for like, $300, plus another $300 for the other parts you need. The only tranny I have is a 5-speed, and it needs a rebuild.

how inexpensive is inexpensive? Only problem is i live no where near Ga and cant take off work that much.

Hey Doc,

I was just visiting your website and I read your story. That was very unfortunate. Anyway, are you still working out of your garage? If you can't find a test car for the 1zz turbo, I'm willing lend you my car after this hurricane season is over (november). It's a 02 LE w/ less than 40K mile, well maintained engine (toyota recommended service done regularly). Is 3K installed still good?

If you already have a test car before then, count me in for 1 kit.

Thanks for the interest. I am starting on Monday at a shop here. At any rate, the original tester for the kit is going to be coming down next month to have the kit built. After that's done I'd be happy to make one for you.
