Like I said...somewhere earlier in this thread...

It actually has a story line. Season 1...they were the new-style of Star Trek. Visiting worlds...curing plagues and helping under-developed civilizations...with a few quick clashes with some menace in the universe. Season 2...I think they realized what a good story they had with the Goa'uld and ran with it. Then they got into it with the Replicators...while still trying to fend off Ba'al and Anubis...and now we've got the Ori.

It's not your typical re-hashed Sci-fi plot that holes and plot-twists that are idiotic.

I saw the price of shipping on sets from Amazon.com, by that time...I could have just gone down to Best Buy and picked them up...managed to catch Season 2 in stock the other day, had to buy it...bought season 3 last night just to make myself happy...so I now have about 30 hours of Stargate to amuse myself with for a few months. :D

...****, 8 seasons in a week...is that no sleeping SG-1 viewing? I know Season 2 has a total running time of 950 minutes...give or take half an hour.

I always understood that the azgard got most of their technology from the ancients and made small innovations. yes, I'm addicted to both series :D

What I don't understand is how the ancients != humans, because everything points to them being the same, yet every time somebody's head gets the hookup they tend to go nuts speaking ancient or just about die from it. (by ancients I assume non-ascendant ones in the past were human)

That's not cool...I suppose on the optimistic side of things, you weren't bored that week.

Actually the Asgard were self sufficient. Their technology was paralleled by the Ancients and they shared a similar ground. However, there were aspects of Ancient technology which surpassed even a later evolved Asgard technology so it's kind of a wash. The ancients wouldn't share technology just as the Nox and the Tollans wouldn't share with us.

As for the ancient/human thing - yes we are the same build, however - the Ancients were further evolved than we are. We are the second evolution of the Ancient race and still in an infancy you could say. The reason why everytime Jack's brain about melted down due to the knowledge that was dropped on him was that while his brain could process a small percentage of the data stored in there, it still overwhelmed his mind since it wasn't evolved enough to handle it all.

If you had watched "Prototype" where it discussed the usages of the brain at different evolutions, it would explain it better. :)

what boring episodes tonight. talk about off topic.

    Show Spoiler
sg-1 I could swear was a rerun with the whole screwed by the media, clone thing. then atlantis, how boring.. they get knocked out on some stupid mist world and make up junk the rest of the show. wtf last week they had 2 weeks before the raith attacked, plot totally jumped, vortex says they skipped the raith defense episode completely and went to this pointless one instead.. wtf?!?!

yeah Fox pooched the **** outta that. They skipped a whole two episodes of SG-1 (redemption pt 2 and threads) and i didnt really pay attention to how many they skipped on atlantis... weak... im glad sci-fi at least does it nice when they run the syndicated versions... they keep em together and if there is a two part, they run em back to back :)
