I want to build a computer in my truck..probably mATX - cheap board/cpu suggestions?

If I get hired after my interview on Monday & if my airsoft gun sells (;)), I might start piecing together a basic low-end computer for my truck...all it has to handle is DVD playback and moving-map GPS. Nothing fancy.

I'd like to do mini-ITX, but it's ridiculously expensive..I'll probably end up building a mATX rig (have a case/PS on the way) that I can tuck in the back seat..just use that until I can afford mini-ITX or a laptop..then turn the mATX system into a internet rig for the rest of the family..or something.

    Any suggestions? :)

I'm already on MP3Car -- someone tried to sell me a system..for over $1000. I could buy coilovers and a new leaf pack for my truck for what he wants for a computer setup.

So..I decided to do this one cheap first, and see if it's worth the trouble/expense of building a car-specific system.

Well, I picked up a mATX case and power supply for about 26 bucks...found an 8" touchscreen for under $200..if I toss in a used motherboard/cpu/ram combo and a HD, I might get out for $400 total..probably not, though.

I have been running a VIA EPIA M1000 mATX mobo in my car for over 2 years and have not had any major problems. The video performance on it kinda sucks ass but its good enough to run streets and trips without a hitch. But if you wanna play games and emulators and stuff in your vehical use a full size setup and conseal it somewhere and run the cables up to the dash.

I'm not really looking to play games on it -- just looking for smooth DVD playback.

Yeah the EPIA M1000 or M1200 is more then enough for smooth DVD playback.
