the PCV valve is attached to the side of the valve cover... the hose then runs from the valve to the intake. remember its the side hose, not the front hose. the front hose is just the vent for pulling fresh air into the valve cover while the throttle body is closed and causing a vacuum to open up the PCV valve and pull the gases off the top of the head.

is that hose that connects to the top of the valve cover and connects to the intake Manifold removable? if so can I just replace it with a breather filter? I just made a intake myself and I am really happy with myself!! but it helped so much in acceleration, but I replaced that hose that connected to the top cover of the stock air box with a breather filter and it worked and I gotta figure out how to mount that pointy thing that was connected to the air box top any help would bew appreciated, I have a non vvt-i 98

you *can* replace the one on the front of the valve cover with a breather filter, but *NOT* the one that runs to the side that has the valve on it. the purpose of the front is only to supply fresh air to the valve cover while the pcv valve is open (under vacuum) and is pulling the vapors off the top of the motor and recirculating them to the bottom end via the manifold.

I've always wondered what those tiny little cold air intake looking things in the rice aisle of Pep Boys were...
