    What a joke...

"The bill would prohibit operating car stereo equipment that creates "louder volume than is necessary for convenient, normal hearing," which is the same language as the city's current anti-noise ordinance."

But the new measure would outlaw possessing or installing any car stereo with a speaker over a foot in diameter; having more than one speaker 10 inches in diameter; more than 10 speakers overall; more than two amplifiers; and any amplifier over 300 watts.

So you couldn't even have 2 10" subs? Geez... and like seriously, a really good 10" with a good amp could pound more than a 15"... their theory is all skewy... nom ore than 10 speakers (would a component set count as 1 speaker, or would they count the tweeter seperately, and if they count the tweeter seperately, what about a 3 way speaker, would that count as 3 speakers instead of 1?). Wow...

    Shit, sorry bout that.

How would they know what you have in your trunk unless you were playing it loud enough that it attracted an officers attention?

The problem with the law is this though... "louder volume than is necessary for convenient, normal hearing"... so it seems like the *noise pollution* will be based on the cops ear, not some db measuring equipment... so more than likely, if you two cars are playing music a litle loud, and they pass a middle aged cop, and one car is playing rap/hip hop and the other is playing something like 70's rock, i'd put money down that the car with rap/hip hop would be pulled over sooner than the one playing rock (even if they we're playing at the same db). Bad law, and awful implementation.

You do have a point - however, what about a hatchback stopped for a minor traffic violation? Audio equipment is visible -- and they could technically be in violation of this law even if their stereo was off.

But it says that has been implemented for 10 years, so THAT isnt anything new.

True - but don't you agree that vehicle seizure is a little over the top?

Yeah that is WAY too intrusive. Why not just fine the people for polluting noise when it happens? They are trying to prevent it from even happening at the expense of our liberty.

F*ckers. That Sheehan lady was arrested for simply wearing a t-shirt with the number of dead soldiers in Iraq on it. It's kind of ironic that she was arrested by a law enforcement branch called the S.S. isn't it?

Yes, it is, and even many in that local legislature are against that.

Its against The House rules....she knew it, and broke it. I fail to see how that has anything to do with this thread.

Did you also know that a congressman's wife wore a shirt that said "Support our Troops" and she was ordered to leave the gallery as well. Unlike Sheehan, this lady complied. Since they're treating everyone the same, then I dont' see anything wrong with it.
