Another 1zz Celica ECU in 1zz Rolla thread

With customs wiring harness, do you guys think a 1zz celica ECU will work on the 1zz Rolla? Auto and manual?

anything is possible, but I believe the Celi ECU isn't as advanced as the ECU on our cars... it's just tuned differently. Also, there isnt much of a performance difference between a Corolla and a Celica. The main advantage for them is weight.

The time and money spent on a Celi conversion would be more than if you were to just go with an aftermarket ECU or piggyback system.

ummm if im not mistaken the 00+ celica ECU will plug right in to the wiring harness on the 00-02 corolla's. If you're going past 02 then you'll need some wicked stuff done to the harness. If anyone is looking for a Celica ECU (1ZZ) I've got one in my garage. Belongs to DenverRolla and I'm sure he won't mind selling it. :)

sorry about that, I just assumed you had a 03+ rolla... thats what im used to answering questions about.

if you have a 03+ then my statment is good, if its a 02 or older then I have no idea if it will work or not?? good catch.

yea, I have a 01. I know in auto, it's can be directly plugged into, but will lost the reverse gear due to some pins locations are different. So do you think we can make a customs wiring harness to correct that?

the only true plug and play option fo rthis

is if you originally had an automatic 00-02 corolla, and swapped it to manual. only then will the celica gt (either auto or manual; they are teh same) ecu plug into your car and not give you heinous tranny problems.

i was working on making a plug and play harness for 00-02 corollas that originally came with a manual transmission, and i'm pretty sure it would work, but i'm really just too lazy to finish the job, and it would be relatively pointless for me since i'm gonna be doing stuff to my car requiring a computer with more tunability than a stock celica ECU.

it IS worth it on an 00-02; redlines at 6500 and will net you more torque and horsepower.

oh and rainbow star, i'm pretty sure that the celi ecu can NOT control the corolla auto transmission, even with a repin.

if you're interested in ecu pinouts and crap like that i can post them or PM them to you also.
