I like how he says "just dont be doin shit if you can't control yourself on it yet.". Personally I would try to avoid substances that you need to learn how to Control yourself when your on them :D I once had a friend that swore up and down that he could drive better when he was drunk because he was relaxed, then one day he rear ended a family and landed his ass in Jail for DUI, and the funniest part is he claims that Alcohol had nothing to do with him rear ending the lady, he claims his brakes failed. Anything to protect the habbit I guess :D

paolino your argument is the only one that's valid, which is why i go to canada :D.

barnacules: marijuana is not alcohol. before you start saying that it's the same and it causes you do not have control over your body and changes your judgment and that stuff, do some research.

i also wasn't implying that he couldn't control himself, just that if he has smoked 10 times or less (probably not likely) his tolerance has not developed and he would have been stoned stupid and REALLY not have been able to move to get out of the situation.

Just some food for thought: (I know we're getting off topic, but not really)

    http://www.well.com/user/woa/fspot.htm
    [Public Service Announcement]

"The strength of today's marijuana is as much as ten times greater than the marijuana used in the early 1970s. This more potent marijuana increases physical and mental effects and the possibility of health problems for the user."

"Studies of marijuana's mental effects show that the drug can impair or reduce short-term memory, alter sense of time, and reduce ability to do things which require concentration, swift reactions, and coordination, such as driving a car or operating machinery."

"Long-term regular users of marijuana may become psychologically dependent. They may have a hard time limiting their use, they may need more of the drug to get the same effect, and they may develop problems with their jobs and personal relationships. The drug can become the most important aspect of their lives."

    aaaaaand...

"How does marijuana affect driving ability?
Driving experiments show that marijuana affects a wide range of skills needed for safe driving -- thinking and reflexes are slowed, making it hard for drivers to respond to sudden, unexpected events. Also, a driver's ability to "track" (stay in lane) through curves, to brake quickly, and to maintain speed and the proper distance between cars is affected. Research shows that these skills are impaired for at least 4-6 hours after smoking a single marijuana cigarette, long after the "high" is gone. If a person drinks alcohol, along with using marijuana, the risk of an accident greatly increases. Marijuana presents a definite danger on the road."

    LOL fair enough!!!!

but as people get older (at least in the college years, where i'm at right now) pot use becomes more controlled and such. you'd be surprised at how many people at my school (#1 for undergraduate engineering in the country) smoke pot everyday and pull good grades for that matter. there are a good amount of productive adults who smoke the herb daily also. i mean it's all about use in moderation and being responsible in my opinion. i think that people should be allowed to do whatever the hell they want as long as they don't endanger others' rights. (and the higher your tolerance, the more you can smoke while staying in "moderation! :D)

thats why i said don't do it unless you can control yourself, because saying OMG YOU CANT SMOKE is really kind of oppressive and nazi-like. so i'm trying to make sure people know what they're doing before interacting with others while on drugs. although interactions with potheads probably are amusing for the most part; they're just really hungry, lazy, and want to play video games :D

Which is exactly why drugs are illegal, because people abuse them and CANT use them in moderation and be responsible. Are you against people that smoke crack?

well, crack isn't marijuana, but yeah, i am against people who smoke crack and are detrimental to society because of their crack habit (which is, from what i hear almost 100% of the crack smoking population). however, if they don't infringe on others rights (lol again, not gonna happen with crack) they can smoke all the fuckin crack they want.

also paolino, just because i dont have a problem with people smoking weed, doesn't mean that i think they should be DRIVING while under its influence. that is totally and utterly unacceptable and irresponsible, because EVERYONE is at danger when someone isn't driving 100% sober.

James, can you elaborate a little more on "if they don't infringe on others rights"? What exactly does this mean?

Just to steer it back on topic - just chalk this one to experience. Sure it will hurt for awhile (assuming that you had a decent relationship with her - 10 month time frame). Could be that little separation that many need to strengthing future relationships or repair this one. I'm not to pass judgement on which is at fault - relationships generally cannot be quantitatively defined into simple clear regions (ie. people and relationships are complex - no two situations will ever be the same or can be explained by any one person). Just wait until you get married and have kids and you will see what I mean. Don't worry - you'll do just fine.

Ellada: I don't smoke weed in this country, I just take advantage of trips where such herbs are legal :D.

I would say that infringing on others' rights would be anything that endagers someone's "life, liberty and their pursuit of happiness" (Our good 'ol Declaration). Examples of this would include the aforementioned driving while under the influence, or being so cracked out that one would consider robbing others for drugs or money.

I guess I'm one of those smokers who keep my grades up still while doing it almost daily. I do make sure I'm sober for work or any other important things. Well as for my relationship we still see each other everyday when we can and still talk everynight. I guess its just one of those wrong time wrong place situations. She's still pissed for sure, but atleast there's still a slim chance of it getting better day by day. She even said to me that its not all my fault too and she says its her fault also, but I don't know how that could be. I was just tripping really bad during the first couple of days after cause I never experience this kind of crap. Right now I'm just focusing on school and work and trying to fix my relationship. We did say to each other that we have some F'd up friends. As for smoking weed. Do what ever cause we all die someday. Also from my highschool like 75% of the people smoke it and the top 20% of the class has like 4.0 and higher and I know for a fact alot of them smoke it. I guess this what happens when you have totally nothing to do and make the forums into a soap opera.

    Oh ya Rock on James
