now that i think about it, there have been a few supercharged GMs...but those are all larger motors.

the corrodo doesn't use a centrifugal supercharger.... it uses what's called a G-lader (hence the G in G60)

there were NO north american supercharged corolla's, ever. the supercharged corolla's in other places of the world used an upgraded version of the mr2 motor (4agze)

    the aw11 uses an sc12
the s/c previa's use an sc14 (slightly larger)
there were supercharged thunderbirds in the early 90's, i believe
there are several supercharged mercedes (mostly newer.... but from what i've heard, other than Toyota they're the only other ones to use an electro magnetic pulley)
and obviously several 'non factory' but dealer (or specialty trim) cars that were modifed and sold supercharged

i knew that the corrado comes with a g-lader supercharger. all of the cars mentioned here have a roots-type blower that is non-intercooled and specific to the intake manifold. i was looking to see if there is a supercharger i could pick up from the junkyard that would be cheap and compact so that i could fit it on my 8th gen. i saw a corrado supercharger on sale for about $100 used, which is a great deal, but if it falls apart pieces of it will end up sucked into the engine and it will end up costing me a lot, and the g60 isnt known for reliability either. cheap boost does exist. it just takes a lot of custom work to get it working.

ya tru that. you dont want to be doing all the custom work yourself for a turbo setup, gota learn how to weld and weld some more and then do a little bit more welding and after all that welding.....

good call with the centrifugal blower; most of the custom work involved with that is fabricating a bracket and doing the belt speed calculations. piping is much more simple with these things than anything else and thats it with respect to pressure. fuel is the same story though...

either way there is no way that i'm fitting a 4agze supercharger in my corolla. i'm looking for something much smaller and adaptable, *like* most centrifugal blowers are(small and adaptable). thats all. you can try to educate us on what superchargers come with what car but it wont necessarily solve the problem of putting it in an 8th gen.

Might be a hell of a lot easier to find a good used one on eBay or similar from the four major manufacturers of these cntrifugal superchargers: Z Engineering, Powerdyne, Paxton and Vortech.

They make them for themselves - R&D and sub-assemblies for other forced induction specialists like Comptech, Edelbrock, Garrett, Jackson Racing, ProCharger, Rotrex, Turbonetics, Turbo Technics, and VF Engineering - just to name a few.

I believe it was the 89 and 90, it was available with a supercharged 3.8 V6, like the Thunderbird SC...

And for some aftermarket Superchargers... check these out, you'll probably have to contact the manufacturers for more information though...

    http://www.powerdyne.com/superchargers.htm
    http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/products/units/

Should give you an idea on units you could use, and they are both well known brands... they also make and sell alot of the other accesories you could need...

And frmo reading upo n them, this level of superchargers is what i'd go with right now for an 8th gen 1zz-fe

i know all about the known brands. but price is the key component here. i'm trying to spend under $500 for a decent supercharger. you cant buy those used for even $1000. i saw some g60s going for ~200 which is good. i guess i'll just have to find one in really good condition for that price and just go from there.
