Touchpad mod

Ever had a problem with the sweat from your fingers from typing too long throw off your touchpad's sensitivity? Like you would put your finger on the touchpad but the cursor starts to follow an old sweat trail....grrrrr very frustrating. Do this mod. Put a clear piece of duck tape about the size of the touchpad. Put the tape over the touchpad and carefully squeeze all the air pockets out. And there you go. Problem solved.

I guess most touchpads are too porous and sweat can collect on them, but the tape doesn't allow this to happen. At least my damn Gateway laptop has this problem I dunno if i'm the only one....

What are you doing on your computer that gets you hot and sweaty?

why would you touch a computer with wet fingers? have you ever heard of the possibility of shorting out the keyboard, etc? electronics + water = boomfizzlepop

You would probably actually be really surprised as to how little that happens. MOst modern day electronis can be completely submerged in water and as long as you let it dry ut good they still work. My dell manual actually said it you put it through the washer or anything, to disassemble it and point a heater at it and let it dry out good for a day or two and it shoudl work. I had a friend put his PDA through the washer, twice, and he had to let it dry out for like 4 or 5 days, buts once it dried out it worked fine. But even with older electornics it didn't happen very often. It is kinda like the static shock warning on memory sticks, yeah it can happen, and if it does, you could be screwed, but it really doesn;t happen too often. When I use old computers to build file servers or something, I jam the memory sticks in my jacket pocket, throw them around on my bed, all kinds of stuff, and I have never had one get ruined.

I don't think plu was talking about his hands being soaked when touchin the touchpad..lol. I think it was meant that when using the keyboard or mouse alot, your hands tend to become moist. I'm on a computer all day at work and after a few hours of using the mouse and typing, my hands get moist. so the moisture from plu's finger leaves a trail on the touchpad which messes with the mouse pointer.

Yep, they actually teach in A+ to throw your keyboard in the washing machine to clean it. (Of course let it dry out for 24 hours before plugging it back in.)

Cleaning your keyboard in the dish washer is cool! Just make sure you turn off heated drying because one time that warped my keyboard pretty good
