Well as you may have noticed they take advantage of people without insurance wise guy, maybe you don't experience that since you have it. I was at 2 hospitals not 1. The first one was 5 grand bill and the 2nd one was like 2 grand. Then small bills for x-rays, glucose checks hell even water I drank they charged me for. I'm not bullshitting you, YES I said 2 grand but the 5 grand one I didn't see at that time because it didn't arrive at my house till a couple days later. Do you want me to send you a copy Mr. Detective? Jesus...... fuck it I'm stopping here believe me or not I could give a fuck less..... moving on to non bill paying interests.... what's up everybody?

yeah yeah yeah... we're broke okay? ;)

Actually Eric... sadly Damir is probably pretty close to it... The breakdown bill on Arwen being born came out to be around 16,000 or so. I remember how extremly happy I was to have insurance and it cost only $350 out of my pocket. I *may* still have a copy of that bill at home. There was nothing odd about the birth either... was your typical average birth with no complications. They just get proud of their healthcare out here... However, the thing that pissed me off the most was seeing how the insurance company negotiates down the cost of how much they actually pay.

Another example... my wreck... I got slammed, they put me in an ambulance, carted me to the hospital and while I was there I took *NO* medicine, *NO* specialty items, etc... I just got there, had my iv bag changed, had a couple xrays, they pulled my iv, etc.... 885 for the ambulance ride, 2469 for the ER visit. keep in mind I did *NOTHING* in the ER other than one IV bag and Xrays.

Your logic is backwards....think about it, "wiseguy".

And I just looked back at the bills for my son being born...8k.

Everyone here throwing out their bills actually helps my argument. Maybe Im missing something from Damirs "explanation" of what he went through at the hospital. Vortex, ya hospital bill was 2500. Explain to me where the other 7500 came for Damirs visit. Its not so much that its a lie, its the fact that its ANOTHER lie, or another embellishment. It never ends.

Didnt you go in there with mono symptoms? And they drained your tonsils? How long were you in there?

Everyone posting up their amounts went through a lot...ambulance rides, ER, rooms, etc, xrays, etc

I was in the hospital for 48 hours, and had SURGERY people. My X-rays were 850. I call BS on his 10k bill statement, plain and simple. My son was on the pediatric floor for FIVE DAYS STRAIGHT in April of 2002...bill wasnt anywhere near 10k. In 1998 I was life flighted by helicopter to a trauma unit...spent 2 nights in trauma and 2 days recovery...THAT bill was close to 10k...including helicopter.

And this uninsured, insured argument is BS. If anything, its the opposite.

well the rate of service is actually higher when you don't have insurance, because you don't have an insurance company to lobby your stuff down... for instance... the bill that got sent to me for the hospital in my wreck was 2469 but all the insurance company had to pay was 1381. If I had called in there and said ' hey can you reduce down my bill to what an insurance company would pay and i'll pay it right this second ' they'd have laughed at me...

also the point behind my post about my ER trip was that I just showed up to the ER had a couple xrays and it cost 2600 bucks... it doesnt surprise me that damir's bill could have been up there in the high ranges... i would have figured about 7500 for everything that was done just knowing how much they fuck you... especially if you go through surgery or any surgical procedure directly from the ER... like buyin a plane ticket last minute, lol... but ya know.. anything is possible.

I know that, but they dont "charge people without insurance a higher rate" from the hospital. If the bill is 10k, its 10k, regardless on whether you have insurance or not. From that point, it gets negotiated down by an insurance company.
BUt they dont look at ya and say, okay, he doesnt have insurance.....so take the prices from the "uninsured patient" column. Would that actually make sense, logically??
Either way, it is what it is I guess.

hehe true... however i swear they do look at it like this, lol.

" lets charge everyone two times what it really costs, then if they have insurance we still get paid what we need to cover costs but if they don't we can take them to the cleaners! "

yeah i have issues with that too... watch it.

I hate my job too, ask Demir about that. I hope Xcel calls me soon, then I will be making 18.50 an hour and you cannot complain about that at all. Bad thing though no discount on utilities.
