Engine Possible to machine a Flywheel for redrilling?

Possible to machine a Flywheel for redrilling?

As some of you know I'm doing the swap and my flywheel has 8 holes instead of 6. I'm wanting to know is that is it possible for me to have it taken to a machine shop and show them the auto flywheel and tell them to match the holes or something. I don't know if it is possible to fill up the holes and drill new ones. I want to know if this is possible so I can order a new flywheel cause my car is on the lift already.

get a new flywheel... a flywheel on a manual is not the same as an automatic....

also redrilling it will likely throw it off balance..... autos dont have flywheels.. they have something else... forgot what its called...

Well I'm trying to find out what flywheel I can get that can fit my car because the competition clutch flywheel that I got has 8 holes. Last thing I need to do is return it and opt for another one. I can't wait for another order because my car is on the lift right now and I need to make this work Asap. If any of you guys driving a 93-97 corolla 1.8L with a lightened flywheel what brand did you get and how much. I need to get this problem solved in within two days.

its called a flex plate in an automatic transmission

and im pretty sure that if u redrill it, it wont be as strong and prolly wont last as long, so i would just order a new one

can anyone tell me what brand of flywheels out there thats made for my car and cost under 500 dollars cause I need it asap and I'm having problems looking.

no, you can't...... you need the correct flywheel

and balancing isn't an issue...... any machine shop that can cut a flywheel should be able to balance it as well

Get something like clutchmasters, UR, fidanza, or just resurface a good used flywheel.

well I just returned my competition clutch flywheel monday and will be getting a check from it. I have unorthodox racing in special order now and should take another 2-3 weeks before I can start on the car again. Stay away from competition clutch cause they are clueless on our cars. They kept telling us it would fit and we found out that the part number was the same on a 4age. Dumbass company I tell you.

i wouldn't be surprised if one wasn't available.... when i did the quick search for you i included looking at all year 4/7afe corolla's along with celica ST's and came up with nothing other than the link i sent you (which apparently isn't the right one).

you could also just take your stock flywheel to a machine shop and have them cut back part of the back, lightening it.... if you do this (or get an aluminum flywheel for that matter) you might want to consider a scatter shield.....
