    Time to go for performance...

Ok guys, Im ready to put my mind and money towards performance. Im thinking of selling off my TOMS kit and use that money plus what ever I need to, to get a new engine. So if anyone is interested, please PM with a REASONABLE offer. Anyways, I wondering which motor would be better for me, a 4AGE or a 4AGZE? Which is easier to get parts for? Which is easier to get more HP out of? How much should I be expecting for either one of these engines? Right now Im looking at a 4AGE that includes the ECU and harnesses, 5 speed transmission, and motor mounts. Is there anything else I would need or is this complete? Hopefully fastrolla will chime in here, if anyone could give me a list of what I would need to do a FULL five speed conversion, that would be awesome. I def. not very knowledgable when it comes to engines, so if I have stated anything that may be wrong, please let me know. Thanks guys.

I'd say keep the kit and save up for the motor work man, the TOMS kit for ur kinda cars are rare PLUS the fact that you had to wait like 20 yrs for that thing lol, so I dk just a thought

I'd go with the 4agze, just for the fact that it has more hp/tq and it's built for forced induction from the factory. I don't see any advantages the 4age has over it unless you just want to stay N/A.

Yeah it depends on what you want and what your budget is. If you have a $5000 budget, go for a 3SGTE, you'll never regret it. If you have a $3000 budget, go for a 4AGE. If you're going to keep the engine stock and you want f/i, get a GZE. If you're going to modify it and you want f/i, get a 4AGE silvertop. Then later you can rebuild it with the GZE pistons and a good EMS.

There's a thread running right now for the 5-speed conversion, just search for it, I've written a ton of posts on the subject.

So you're saying if you want f/i, you should get the 4AGE silvertop over the 4AGZE? Why is that?

If you're planning on modifiying it in the future. Because the silvertop head has more potential that the GZE head, and you can rebuild it with low compression GZE pistons anyway, so you might as well get the silvertop to begin with.

Of course, if you want to stay away from rebuilding the engine, then just get a GZE.

Ya since I'm currently doing the conversion I'll give you a list of the important parts you need.
Flywheel, clutch kit, c52 tranny, master cylinder and slave cylinder, the entire hydrolic hoses for the master and slave cylinder, [hard to get also] clutch and brake pedal assembly, [hard to get] shifter base and shifter cables assembly, maybe the axle and tranny mounts or lateral bar [not that far yet so not as sure yet, relaying the back up light sensor on the ecu for reverse light to work, and make sure your flywheel has the same 6 bolt pattern for the it to bolt on the crank. Don't know if the crank on the manual the same as auto, but chance it might be 8 and not 6 so I'm machining my flywheel currently to fit the 6.

After all the money I've spent on the motor and tranny I wished I dropped in the 4age, but I'm more confident with finding the right parts for the motor when problems array by keeping the 7afe and just porting and polishing it. Hoping to turbo next year sometime and nitrouse by Xmas.

    They are both 6-bolt cranks.

The decision still isnt 100% final as of right now. Depending on how much it will cost for a full paint job and some needed and some custom body work will make me sway one way or the other. Right now its just an idea, but a very serious one. Im just really wanting speed right now and dont want to deal with the payment or the insurance of a new(er) car. I dont know, lol, right now it just a thought.

yet don't get into too much on both sides at once. do both slowly, finish any project you start, then start slowly and carefully on the next part.

    forreal...

you have the TOM's kit now, get that put on and painted.. you can find people to do that for a good price if you shop around
if u dont wana spend ridiculous cash, paint the kit the color of the car. or repaint the car the same color w/ a pearl or something else to spruce it up

even if u nix the kit and paint completely it still wont be enough to get a swap. so youre gona have to wait regardless.

the satisfaction of having a nice looking car will tide you over till you can be fast lol
