each installer will be different but the average price should be around $400. It's a pretty simple install compared to a full turbo/intercooler setup, but still deficult if you dont know what you are doing.

i installed mine myself (with soem friends) and it took us about 3 hours.

How much boost does the S/C product and how much power does it rob to make it? I mean is the boost generated by an S/C create the same ammount of overall HP as a turbo?

that doesn't make sense, you just asked

how much power does the supercharger take away to make boost?

supercharger is instant boost, mainly for low end power, turbo would require a spool, mostly for high end power

the supercharger is belt driven, so it's always "on", a turbo requires to suck in air enough for the turbine thingys to spin

He's asking how much hp the supercharger makes compared to how much it takes away. The supercharger runs off a belt and therefore robs the engine of some power.

To answer the question, the specs given for the s/c take the loss into account since it is power measured from the engine itself. It would be very hard to figure out exactly "how much" power is being lost to the s/c pulley.

What do you mean it doesn't make sense? The SuperCharger is belt driven which like you A/C takes a lot of power to make power. Turbo's use exhaust gases to spin up and generally don't have as much of a cost so I was wondering if anyone knew the exacts.

Hahaha, I responded before I read your last post and its almost identical at first ;)

just a heads up to amyone interested in buying a s/c... buy the s/c unit alone and then call MWR and get the Greddy e-manage with the preprogramed s/c set up. forget about the TRD ecu al together. you can completely control all of the injectors including the 5th injector and timing with the e-manage. makes it easier to add a CAI and WI since you will be able to tune it afterwards.

Doesn't the Apexi AFC-ii do that too? I know eManage is the hot topic but I think the AFC is a bit cheaper?

thats what ive heard too but if you think about it you can spend 1000 to buy the TRD ECU or spend 500-600 on the e-manage.

stops working because the vvt-i starts to get "intelligent" and tweaks your af ratio back to stock or something. i've also heard it applies to all piggy back computers. found this information on newcelica.org i believe it was.

With the greddy e-manage is it possible to run a CAI w/o a w/i? I mean if you can control, injectors, timing could that help prevent killin the catylac? jw Because as of now im still savin for a s/c maybe....my uncle found a way to increase 30% power in the 1zz engine in the 03+ corolla I still have to get a hold of him though; so he can tell me how he did it so i can do it to my car.

O and another thing is it worth gettin the s/c if you lookin at payin almost 3 grand??

you probably could tune the e-manage to run the s/c with a CAI and no water injection. but the water injection cools the intake charge so it would be better to just use it also. i only payed $2400 for my s/c and it was well worth it.
