That looks 100% exactly like the OBX header, which I have. It's not exactly a top notch piece, and you need to have a flex pipe welded on to prevent potential cracking. Personally I would wait and spend a bit more money on a quality piece, I'm waiting to see if milky's custom header pans out.

The fitment isn't the issue, and they also don't have epic gains, but the only issue that sometimes arises is a crack because of the lack of a flex pipe.

Any header on the 1zz won't show that much gain on a Stock form.

I ported my stock ones and felt a bit more responsive

did they weld a flex pipe at the end of the header? last i remember some veteran corolla owners said its a bolt on to the exhaust line but without the flex pipe the vibration of the engine will go to the header and to the exhaust line causing the welds on the header to crack over time...thats why ive been holding off on my header, want to install it properly but with my new engine

I dont think they did. I believe the guy just welded it on. I think this is fairly recent. So ill keep updated to see how long it will last.. what headers do you have?

I thought he was designing them for his car? Something about the rev limit being higher and something about piping size?... i dont know...theres too much number crunching for me in that thread.

same knock off of the OBX, no flex pipe? LOL shits going to crack over time...ive read at least 3 different stories here on the forums about that header from old members that have moved on...why you think our stock manifold can separate in 2 pieces with springs in the middle...got a link to this guys instagram?

Im not talking to the guy himself. Its another 8th gen owners' friend. He doesnt have an instagram. Buddy told me they just slid the header into the stock piping.. as far as i know. The guy gave his old headers to buddy, and he said hes going to just port them.

I ported my stock exhaust manifold and heat wrapped it...but the wrap dried up and became glass and simply removed it...lasted 2 years.

I think im going to grab one from the auto wreckers and get a shop to port it. Im not sure about heat wrap though. I heard it traps moisture?

I've heard these stories too. I guess you can paint them with exhaust heat rated paint before wrapping them. That should help with any issues with moisture

nope, tried brake caliper paint and engine enamel on the exhaust manifold...flakes off over time, used duplicolor, rustoleum and that autozone brand

Yeah i dont think brake caliper paint can withstand those temps. Your headers become red hot... i guess that would keep the moisture out. But,wont know until someone tries!

cBass, did you find any damage on the manifold after taking the wrap off?

That stuff works. Rated for 1,200-2,000 Degrees. I've painted several headers before and it lasts. The color fades but it doesn't flake if you prep it right by removing all the oil and grease.

wow never knew headers had actual paint for them.....well i used caliper paint since it was at my disposal....but i figure the engine enamel would of worked....it lasted longer, but i guess every application has its own paint....

nothing, original is still on the car as i type.

Yeah they have several colors too. Not too many options but something is better than nothing.

You can buy that paint at autozone or Kragen Whey

I have the long tube megan 4 to 1. The headers break due to shitty welds and materials. I have rewelded mine and have no issues. I still dont like the long tube. But its better than a ported stock manifold, which I do have. I have a few extra stock manifolds. The biggest issue is the collector. The head flange needs some port work and more welding to be fine. To fix the collector you need to cut the collector off port it and weld the collector back on.

As for my new header design, it looks like it will need to be installed on a lift with the cross members out. Its not going to be a weekend install friendly bit will be right and tuned for the application
