Help! Can I put 15 inch steel rims on my Corolla?

    Hi all

    My friend traded her old car for a brand new 2014 Forester and she has 4 Winter tires that are in excellent shape. She asked me if I want them, however, they are 15 inch tires and my car has 14 inch rims

    Can I put a 15 inch rim on my Corolla so I can use these tires? The tire size is 185/65R15

    We are currently using 175/65R14

    I think the Forester has 5 bolts/wheel, and you have 4. So no.

    Actually, her old car was a Saturn SL-2 from 1999

    Yes you can always upgrade an inch in diameter for rims. To keep your speedometer accurate, those would have to be slightly shorter as far as sidewall is concerned, which will make the ride a little more rough. Just make sure they are 4x100 with the correct bore diameter.

    I wouldn't do it. You're looking to spend an extra premium to get steelies, and those tires are the wrong size for your car. It's minor, but it is enough to make your speedo inaccurate. The 15" steelies you would get for those tires in 4x100 certainly would not come from a Corolla so you might have to deal with mismatched hub bores (+$ for hubcentric rings) and incorrect offset (wheel/tire smashing against fender or suspension under load).
