    She got it fixed with a lot of suspension work, bushings and the lot. I'll ask everything she did. She also went back to OEM rims though.

    Funny, I think my IS makes the same noise.... just one snapping sound like some tension got released, when just starting out. But I haven't noticed it lately....

    Yeah basically everything you guys are saying is spot on, except mine does it also going forward but only when its been sitting for a while. Ive replaced everything many times and its still there. The only thing I havent replaced is the rack and pinion.

    Yeah mine did it first thing in the morning coming out of the garage. It sounded like something in the steering column, or something back behind/under there.

    Hahaha good point. Although it is the steering wheel that is causing the click, I dont think its the part that is failing. Its either has to be a tie rod or a bushing in the lower control arm...
