So I haven't started on this yet but wanted to create a DIY for when I do.

I plan on hopefully making this bumper in a few weeks, I'm in the process of getting materials/researching

The only thing I'm in the dark about is where exactly to cut the bumper, looking at pictures It seems like its suppose be cut just below the line that runs horizontally across the bumper just below the headlights.

If anyone has any information they think could help I am all ears lol

Nice! I was in the same boat making my 94/01 bumper.

IMO, if you can, cut OFF that line, it looks weird. The 01 bumper doesn't have a line like that, it's all smooth (well except for a little line on each side, but I filled those in).

So cut your bumper at that line, nice and straight. Then try to cut the 01 bumper at the same line, but it doesn't need to be perfect. Once you've cut enough off the 01 bumper, you'll plastic weld the two together. You can use pieces of the bumper that you'll toss anyway. Just cut out little square "plates" and weld them on the back. I used my solder iron and melted it together. Worked very well! Just takes a long time lol.

Once you've got the two bumpers welded together (make sure it's welded all along there) then you can fill the gap with Bondo (I use the brown fiberglass resin kind). Use a Dremel to make the slit more like a V.

yea cool! alot of that is exactly what i plan on doing, so i guess my main concern is i know the 01 bumper is more squared off then the 98, you dont think ill have any major caps to fill as long as my cuts are decent?

The shape of the bumpers is more similar the higher up you go. The 01-02 is more square like you said, but it's down low. Just cut it at that line that was mentioned, and measure the same distance on the 02 bumper. Golden.

I would shave out the Toyota logo up top, or go back to chrome. From far away it looks odd to have that black circle in the middle, but that's just my two cents. Do what rolla tuner did, after all, he was your inspiration.

yea i think i agree, the black emblem is a holdout from my black on white phase, i do plan on rocking a chrome one when one comes around, just not going to shell out $80 or whatever for one

Ryan why don't you just use like 1000 grit samdpaper, get rid of the paint, and clear coat the whole thing?
That way you can keep the one you have and not really spend any money at all, and that way cBass gets fucked too.
