    from what car did those twin pot calipers come from? and im guessing they are bolt on to the US 8th gen?

    They came on the SuperStrut AE101 Levin/Trueno and FX-GT models. SuperStrut is the type of suspension they had but they were rare as most of them only had the normal McPherson strut suspension (like ours). The SuperStrut models featured the twinpot calipers, 275mm front rotors and the 4-spoke Momo steering wheel like mine.

    Yes, the calipers are a bolt-on to the 8th Gen. I actually have a spare pair here which are currently on hold for someone in the US. Shipping is quite high due to the weight of them but apparently they make a very noticeable difference even on the stock 255mm rotors.

    Higher quality drilled rotors have beveled edges on the edges of the holes drilled into them specifically designed to not eat away pads. And the argument of not having better brakes "because it's a corolla" is stupid. Even if your car never sees a track day, great brakes are an important factor in every car. I'll take the added security of knowing I can stop better in an emergency and protect my family in case something happens. Even if the difference is only a couple feet, sometimes that's all you need. So gold can take his "ownage, ownage everywhere" comment and shove it up his golden ass. Scott I'm not even trying to say that your choice of stopping power is ill-advised or not a good one, in fact the increased clamping force of the larger calipers is probably equal to or greater than a good disc/pad combo on the tiny OEM brake setup. One last thing about the cross drilled rotors cracking and chewing up pads, I drive agressively (cue some faggy corolla joke from hummer here) and I still have plenty of life on my Hawk HP pads after a few years now, and my rotors are perfect. All these stories about poor performance from drilled rotors are most likely due from a combination of a poor setup of the pads initially and crappy eBay brakes. And it boils down to the fact that every generic car made today comes with blank rotors, and high end cars and race cars have dimpled/slotted/drilled discs. End of debate.

    Well said. No doubt that the design of drilled and slotted rotors have come a long way over the years, but, in comparison to completely flat rotors, the pad-life will be shorter as the holes and slots basically act like a cheese grater, regardless of how burred/beveled the holes are, but that's not to say they don't serve a purpose. I can see how they would be very helpful with getting rid of heat generated by friction, and the reduced pad-life is a slight trade off as a result. My brother was running TRD Black pads (very expensive pads designed for racing) on his dimpled (not drilled) and slotted rotors and they ate threw them in a couple of months. He then changed to some harder compound pads (from the same manufacturer who actually made the rotors) and hasn't had a problem since. So I completely agree with you that quality pads play a big role in regards to the longevity side of things. I swear a lot of people would upgrade to drilled and slotted rotors just because they think it looks cool, and would probably do it as cheaply as possible (ie. eBay). Both set-ups have their pros and cons and suit different driving styles/preferences. Debate ended :thumbsup:

    Oh, I didn't know you had drilled&slotted rotors.

    When I had the Corolla, the old stock brakes worked fine. Sure, it wasn't like stop-on-a-dime or anything, but the tires would lock up before I ran out of brakes. More powerful or larger brakes will just make you lock your tires sooner.

    Instead, the real benefit is when you're on the track, or doing spirited mountain driving or similar, because stock brakes will overheat, fade and warp in such cases. So yeah, it doesn't matter WHAT car you have (be it Corolla or sportscar), but rather what kind of driving you do.

    Yes I have KVR drilled rotors up front paired with Hawk HP pads. On all season tires, the brakes are way too much for the car. But the tires I have on these Enkei rims are pretty sticky, so it's a good match.
