yeah, my dw pump had a whine as well, but fuck you wont be able to hear it in the corolla. the fuel tank in the miata is right below the parcel shelf behind the driver and passenger. so its a loud whine. but the corolla its under the rear seat. decent amount of sound deadening there. plus add in radio, exhaust and the "other" whine and you will never notice

So are you going to use the header flange that mwr sells for the 2zz or the stock one?

Also @James i think you should update the parts list in op

i will probably use the header flange that MWR sells. but im going to make a jig for the header and might end up making a completely new header for the 2zz.

and it is extremely hard to find a pulley for the trd blower. but i know pulley bros will make anyone a pulley if you have the dimensions.

    It's probably chillin. :troll:

    Link?

If it is a C60 you will need to swap selector shafts from a C160 or whatever, at least.

its a c60. any 6 speed bolted to any zz engine is a c6x transmission.
no, dont use the c160 shifter shaft. i used that for a while and had no reverse. i didnt have the matching bell crank assembly for the c160 shaft either and unless you get it with a transmission, you cant find it. the 5spd stuff is not interchangeable.

for the shifter select shaft, us 04-05 corolla/matrix xrs stuff. its rear shift like our cars are. shifter cables from either the 8th gen or 9th gens will work. im using the 8th gen ones. 7th gen celica shifter base for the actual floor shifter inside the cabin. this has extended shift arms needed for reverse as well. either 7th gen gt or gts have the same floor shifter and it bolts in.

to swap selector shafts is easy. its 4 bolts really and it slides out. provided you dont have to swap all the stuff on the shaft, even then its still not bad. 2-3 roll pins and a few c clips. just lay it out in the order it came off and install the reverse of removal.

So you're using a Celica GT/GT-S shifter and shifter base?

No way to notch new shift gates into the Corolla shifter base?

I hope I can reuse my Corolla TWM SS.

yes i am. and its not the shift gates thats the issue, there are 2 cables, one goes onto the base of the shifter, this is the to a fro cable. the other goes to an L shaped arm that controls the left and right. well, between the 5spd and 6spd the L shaped arms are different and have different pivot points. the 6spd one has longer arms to allow you to get into reverse. the actually shifter itself looks identical, so your short shifter could still work quite possibly. i cant say for sure.

So it's the horizontal arm that's different. Did you need the celica shifter base because you were originally auto or something?

The horizontal arm on my TWM points straight towards the driver and has no bends or anything. Both of my arms are longer than stock I believe, but can't recall since I installed that shit 10 years ago.

I also have metal bushings at the bottom of the shifter base and on the tranny/shifter cable ends, so there is no play at all.

yes, my car was a 3spd auto along time ago. i skipped over going 5spd and went balls to the wall with the 6spd swap back in 2008. funniest thing was that with the 4.5 final, the top of 2,4 and 6th were the same as the top of each gear in the 3spd! cruising rpm was the same going from the 3spd to the 6spd. but final drive difference.. OH GOD.

when i first did the swap, i used oem 8th gen axles by replacing the spyder gears inthe diff in the trans with some from a c56. it worked well, till i realised that i could spin 1-4th cus of the final drive. in the wet or snow in 6th you could roll into it and it would just spin hardcore. and back on that first trans, i cut up the celica gts select shaft and made my own to convert the trans to rear shift. used some modified 5spd parts from a c56. it was rough and i wouldnt do that again, but it worked for a while with no issues. i decided to redo it all before i rebuilt the engine. i had a spare c60 and the lsd and all kinds of parts just sitting for a few years but didnt install any of them till i decided to rebuild the engine last year.

its not the actual shifter level, its the pivot arm the on the shifter base thats different.

Fuck, guess I have to just try it. I don't even know what you're talking about now because I didn't even look at it. I'll just get the Celica base then.

I am too pussy to flip the coin bro.

Also comments like the above about the 4.5 also make me want to reconsider going for the MR2 one.

well, when i did it in 2008, i was on a lay off and didnt have any money. so i made it work with what i could. during the swap i got a letter in the mail saying i had to be back to work in 4-5 days. so i shit bricks and got out the welder and made it work. i have learned a lot since then. that and there was no one else that had info on this swap. i never found any. the only thing close was the hellish mantis and it used all the xrs bits. cables, shifter base and select shaft. but the matrix base is ungodly huge and wont fit below a corolla center console.. but the 7th gen celica one will, and will bolt in. no mods needed.

Generally I remember the published DIY guides by author. Vamp did a lot of the OG ones (baseball bat fender roll, anyone, LOL?), and Vortex did the non-vvt-i EMB install one. Irvin crushed the TRD S/C and you have this C60 swap. Everyone mentioned here is a Corolla Legend in my book.

yeah, i did the swap, but really didnt do a write up or anything on it. in fact, it wasnt till just recently that a oem plug n play drivers side axle came to my attention. so even tho i have had it done for quite some time (dont want to say the first or longest cus i feel like someone will come out of the woodwork) i really didnt post much on how to do it, well back then i didnt. but i wasnt on this site either. i was on TN and it seemed like no one cared. so i just kinda stopped logging on. i still laugh when i see the threads about 1zz's using undersized pistons and oversized rings.. what an epic fail to believe that. i could rant on that for a minute.

yeah i had seen a couple of Vamps stuff. i remember the one for the celica seats. never saw his for the celica tb/im one, but i figured that out on my own. i also did one thing no one else dared. i ran and still do use a underdrive crank pulley. i remember reading all kinds of horror story threads about exploded oil pumps and engines locking up cus they put on a underdrive. LOL. 70k worth of miles with an underdrive installed.. no exploded oil pumps, engine runs fine. i think it was user error like most things. probably didnt install a new front main crank seal and lube it up enough. and i remember reading about all the obx headers breaking and buying the megan one. i mainly bought it cus it was a longer tube header. if i only knew what i know now.
