A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..... there was this UFO named "Starfighter". It originally began as a boring old 7th gen Corolla in typical beige fashion.

So boring in fact, that it really did act as a space-age "teleporter" as it has been called:

    top gear.jpg

Well I had to fix that. And what better why to spruce-up a UFO than with LEDs? Let the fun begin.

    2004:

Purple license plate lights (the first thing I ever did to a car lol)

    2005:

I installed these in the front turn signals:

Didn't like those, put them in the reverse, installed these instead:

4 of these also went in the brake lights.

    2006:

Got bored, made some LED DRL lights for my signal lights. (This was before Audis had them, and way before there were LEDs strips all over ebay and everyone's car... I started a trend lol j/k).

    I also installed LED mirrors.

Then I made my own LED brake light for the window because the other lights weren't very bright. You can also see all the lights are LEDs.

Then I replaced the garbage LEDs in the mirrors with my own.

Then I made my own full LED tail lights from scratch, and installed LED plate lights.

Then I ditched the LED DRL strip lights for some new housings and new LED bulbs.

Then I changed the head lights to LED ones.... so LED mirrors, LED signals, LED corner lights, and 3 pairs of LED bulbs in the head lights.

Here's a pic of the UFO next to the mothership's docking bay:

    2007:

    Installed LEDs inside:

Then I opened up my bumper lights again and made an LED board to fit inside.

Then I put individual LEDs inside everything in the interior, replaced everything.

Then I replaced all the front LEDs again, twice as bright now.

Then I made these LED side marker turn signals.

LED halo fog lights with blue HIDs

    HIDs in the projectors also.

Then I put the stock mirrors back on with these chrome covers and LEDs that I put inside

    2008:

I changed the bumper to the 2001 Corolla one, and I installed new LED halo fogs, plus made some LED turn signals to sit next to them.

LED strip over the license plate (new bumper didn't hold the stock lights)

I also changed the mirrors again, and of course had to build my own LEDs inside.

Then I discovered LED strips...... and bought like 100 feet of them lol. Installed them EVERYWHERE.

I got pulled over for having white LEDs in the rear signal, so I got yellow ones. I also installed yellow LEDs in the mirrors facing back.

    2009:

Then I changed the head lights to LEDs and halos.

Then I changed the tail lights again, and of course with more of my own custom LED designs. Including a third brake light spoiler LED I made.

Can't forget the signals and reverse LEDs.

Then I swapped the interior to a different car, so that meant I had to redo all the blue LEDs over again.

Time for new head lights again! I build these with quad bixenon projectors, 3 pairs of CCFL halos, and lots of LEDs lol. Even the fog lights are LED now.

    2010:

I built my third and most complicated pair of LED tail lights after modding my car to hold BMW e36 tail lights. Full LEDs, and the signals are sequential.

I've actually got a video of these showing how they work.

[IMG]BMW Tail Light LED Retrofit Demo

Then I changed the front end also, to the Subaru bumper. No more crazy head lights, just simple white LEDs in the corner lights and amber LEDs in the signals.

    2011:

It wasn't long after that when the UFO decided to blow up. Well so much for that.

    ----------------

Then I got UFO 2.0... a less boring IS300. But I told myself I wasn't gonna go crazy on the car this time.

Nevertheless, it wasn't long before all the bulbs were LEDs lol.

    LED trunk lights

    LED city lights and sidemarkers

    LED door lights

    LED dash

New LED housing plate lights (LED is built in, not a bulb)

Changed the city lights to blue LEDs

Spent $100 at V-LEDs to replace all the white LED lights (doors, dome, map, trunk).

Spent another $100 at V-LEDs for some better LED strips, though I only installed them here (connected to the dome light)

Then I installed LED tail lights & trunk lights

And that's actually it for LEDs on the IS300. But don't worry, bought 2 pairs of the new V-LED Triton switch backs for the signals, as those are the only regular bulbs left.

Thus ends my UFO journey through time.... or is it really over? To be continued.....

Got the car painted the first time Jan 2007 (Nissan's Daytona Blue Pearl) then got it painted Subaru's World Rally Pearl a year later (Jan 2008).

And that interior is from a Geo Prizm.

Of course, if anyone is interested to see more than just LEDs.....

Well i do admit that I pimped them out for the pics lol. It is what it is, I have no real regrets. But yeah, I've spent a small fortune on LEDs LE:what:LLLL

I guess it just looks good in person. Either that, or I've got a great personality lol. But everywhere I go (with both cars) I get compliments on them. When I was in Atlanta, I pulled up and was instantly greeted by someone out of every shop in the parking lot, they all came over and asked how to do that and one guy took literally 100 pictures of the LEDs.

Ah yeah, true. That was part of the idea of putting the rain visors on, so that with the windows rolled up, you can't see them when they are off. They do have a nice, smooth, glossy look to them though, and they fit perfectly, so it really does look nice no matter what.
