A little secret about factory chrome lugs...

Have factory aluminum wheels with the "chrome" lugs and plan to rotate your tires? Have some super glue with you because the chrome is merely a cap on top of a steel lug and some WILL come off. If they are not damaged, a dab of S glue will put them back in place until next time. True chrome lugs are the best answer but my budget said super glue.

    what are lugs?

 It's kinda embarassing to ask, but what are lugs? I would like to know why i would have to bring super glue when i get my first oil change and tire rotation next month. I got my car back in August. How do you know if you have chrome lugs or not :?:

The lugs or lug nuts are what hold the wheels on the car. It's unlikely that they are chrome unless you have the factory aluminum wheels or aftermarket aluminum wheels. If they're chrome they're shiny and reflective. Standard wheels with hubcaps will use steel lugs not chrome.

this is the fact with all chrome wheel lugs... honestly you'd prefer it this way, the alternative is chrome dipping the lugs and there are a couple of considerations in this. a: the heat changes the chemical composition of the steel in the nut, potentially weakening it (wheel comes off) b: they have to individually dip each nut, providing care not to get any in the threads, thus causing the price (for labor) to double or even triple multiplied over the count of nuts involved (16 to 20) we're talking a little bit of money... =0 it's not them being cheap... it's them being practical and efficient.

    777-
That's the first I've ever heard of that. My last two cars had real chrome lug nuts and no problems were ever incurred. I appreciate what you are saying but if they are quality made in the first place there shouldn't be any issues.
