Lol I know I'm new here but.. Wanted this to be something people could view talking about an 02 corolla s.

imo magnaflow sounds awesome. Idk if i can't find a good youtube clip of a trd exhaust or what but I'm not impressed by the sound.

Im sorry i just had to...but i try and tell these guys to clean up the 8th gen thread but it does not work...

saw the 3a racing muffler too, but i think it was way too ricey

Exdream has a TRD exhaust sound clip floating on youtube...i have had the N1 muffler on mine but you need to get it welded...its only like 20 bucks

i actually like the sound of the n1 its deep and idle sounds nice. but what up with the comment about a headache xD

agreed. so probably going to get the magnaflow, probably buy it around december with the intake.
now about intakes. i know theres not much performance benefit but sounds nice. ive done my research or short ram and cold airs, and decided on short ram. i know name brand intakes are overpriced but they dont seem that off budget. so im stuck between an injen and a weapon r. which has the best sound?

if u install the injen one you wont hear it much especially with a muffler. i only hear mine when i start it up and while the car is warming up and sucking up all the air. If i punch the gas anytime, it also makes a "cool" noise.
I've noticed I've had to clean my Injen filter frequently so that it performs optimally. Doesn't the Weapon R come with the hose that attaches to the top of the filter and provides more air?

you can also construct ur own CAI similar to what hummer did a while back when he had his corolla

I would recommend the K&N drop in filter, i currently have it on my corolla....sounds nice and is cheap, also you can make it a CAI if you cut a big hole on your resonator box but i caution you it will get dirty quickly if you drive on the freeway alot...ive found from bubble bees, wasp, dragon fly and stupid butterflys.

Stock air boxes are far better than SRI

yah the weapon r short ram can be converted into a CAI with the ram air kit that you buy separately. and wow, thought the intake was actually a must mod or first mod if ur into modding your car. so remember im just a 16 year old. i havent even opened the hood of my car yet nothing hands on just browsing the internet. probably take a look right now. and figure out where the resonator box even is. so does that even change the sound of the car at all? i love a good cabin noise

intake usually is good...but in this case the filter placement sucks with SRIs for our corollas. nothing more than engine bay bling bling

I have a Tanabe Super Medallion on my 02 Corolla and I love how it sounds but it just looks too big for my car.
if i were you id try to get a trd. Also do the resonator removable and K&N drop in filter. Same results as a brand name intake but cheaper.

yah love the way the trd exhaust looks but they are hard to find i heard. and alright, ill go with the resonator box removal and the k&n drop in filter

haha, im just a lost kid looking at what the majority said. okay cbass, so tell me more about what u did. it sounds awesome minus the butterfly part xD
so whats better, completely removing the resonator air box or cutting a hole in it like you said?

easy, remove bolts under the hood, remove bumper for better access, and get remaining bolts.

cutting a hole will deliver more air into the stock air box and giving it the intake sound which is like a SRI.

Cutting a hole will basically eliminate the resonators job, you can also just get a big hose and direct the air into the stock air box but if you dont want to spend money just cut a hole with a hole saw

. My temp. is the same as outside, when i had my k&n SRI for the 9th gen corolla it was at least 15-20f higher. Also my CEL kicked it with the code p0171, so i decided to just get a drop in filter and its way better.

I put at least 50-75 miles a day on the corolla for mostly freeway driving...Bugs tend to fly around by the fields and my air box gets dirty, sometimes with bugs so i check my air box every time i fill up and clean it.

ANOTHER good thing to do if you like to get dirty is porting your stock exhaust manifold...me and irvin have done it and its as good as an aftermarket header. If you do do this its a good thing to replace those old gaskets since they tend to dissolve from the heat over the years. This will do a big difference.

Porting your exhaust manifold it good, but its not as good as an aftermarket header.
But as everyone says, no use in buying one of those intake kits when you can just get the drop in filter. If you are just gonna get a muffler, go with either a magnaflow or vibrant.

So to sum it all up... "retro fit the resonator to function as CAI."
