Yes. Because when you BAR. A vehicle. You're conforming to that vehicle emissions setup. After their first inspection. If all I connected correctly. They will label it as a celica

Right. It was officially released for sale for the 03-04 Corolla/Matrix.

BUUUT. It was certified by ARB smog for 00-03 Celica, 03-04 Matrix/Corolla.

And this is the official state letter of acceptance by the state.

    http://arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/eo/D-425-13.pdf

If you read that pdf. It says it's certified for use in a 2000-2003 celica as well.
ANDD that's how we can use this kit as a Celica conversion.

Reason why Celica is better is because Celica's only require to have 1 catalytic converter.
IFF you take it to get it certified as a Corolla or Matrix. Then you need to have 2 installed.

Sure, let's talk about it when I get to check the car out in person!

You should also be able to provide the SN on your blower to GM PP and ask them for a replacement CARB sticker.

Oh and to finally answer your question.. The corolla and matrix have 2 converters in their emission
Control. Whereas the Celica only has 1.
    Added: Sep 11, 2012 11:41 PM
I just typed out a full explanation and for some reason it didn't post... HERE we go again.

IF you want to legally have the TRD supercharger in your car. You have to conform to the
emission setup as one of those cars that the kit is approved for. If you look at that pdf, you'll
    see it's approved for a 00-03 Celica and 03-04 Corolla/Matrix..... NOT for a 00-02 Corolla.

So that's the reason why you need to do an "Engine Change" even though it's the same engine
but has different emission components throughout every year. Even if the change is just a different
ECU Part number. That's enough to call it a different engine configuration.

Soo, The Celica's only have 1 catalytic converter in their emission components whereas the
Corolla/Matrix have 2. Therefore, If you don't want to pay an extra $300+ to add a Cat you
don't need, go with a Celica setup.

Finally. When you take your car to the State Referee to do an "Engine change". They will make sure all
emission components for that year Celica is installed. Basically major components like Catalytic converters,
Air injection, EGR, Computer part number etc. Once they see that everyting is in place. They will issue a BAR
Sticker or label to put on your car for future smog reference. Once you get that label. You do NOT need to go
back to the Referee to get your smogs every 2 years. The smog stations will just go by that BAR Label.
    Added: Sep 11, 2012 11:44 PM
Here's an example of a BAR Label. This one was for a Honda but you get the idea

So just took the Corolla out to compare Celica vs Corolla ECU's.... Winner is Corolla!!! It has TONS more power and TONS more torque. Mainly because the A/F ratio's fall in a better area with the Corolla ecu from
    Corolla ECU= 11.5-12.3:1.
    Celica ECU= 10.1-11.3:1. PIG RICH!!!
    Added: Sep 12, 2012 3:42 AM
Here is a perfect example of the differences A/F ratio will effect the results from the supercharger.

I could have sworn the corolla only has one cat, but the rest makes sense I kinda understood that stuff previously. Oh and not related to your thread, do you know how to test that 3 prong pressure sensor since a 9v battery won't make it audibly click open/closed?

With that sensor connected to the harness of the car but off the tank. Connect a hose to it. Hook up a volt meter by slightly puncturing the wires to the sensor. If you blow the hose you connected to the sensor, the voltage should go up. If you suck the hose, the voltage should go down. Usually the start point is 0v.

Example. Starting voltage should be 0v. If you blow, It should go +5v. If you suck, it should go -5v.

Edit: the 2 of the 3 wires you want to probe with everything connected are 2 and 1 terminals.
The wire colors "should" be Light blue and brown.

    Added: Sep 12, 2012 5:56 AM
The 8th gen corolla does have only 1 cat. That's why going celica is better because you don't have to add another.
If you were to change the engine to a 9thgen corolla or matrix. Then you would have to install another cat making
    2 total.

So does this only apply to engines with the super charger installed? Because a felt way more power in the higher rpms with the celica ecu.

Yup! Boosted or highly modified N/a engines need different tunes. Makes a huge difference! Even
stock engines can benefit greatly with a tune.

You can with piggyback ecu's. If you want to tune the Celica ecu for the super, Then you can simply use a
    Split Second additional injector controller.

Lol I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I'm a professional tuner. I know the basics but would still recommend taking it to a professional tuner.

Problem with the 325 is that everything that will give you ponies cost $$$. I'd recommend saving and boostin
it if you really want power. Intake header exhaust on that car will cost you 2k plus for a few ponies

I would rather just buy an M3. Much easier and you get the whole package. Wide body, brakes, 6 speed, ect.
Plus they're not even that expensive. Sell your car for 13-14k and buy an m3 for 18-19k
