This is the new TRDForums. Nice Stancely btw, especially if your new sig is post-coilover install.

Yeah, all 4 sides are rolled flat and pulled out a bit. I've cut off much of the fender liners and cut off the rear bumper tabs. But being this low with wheel poke is fine until I turn the wheels too much, then the tires rub on the metal. The fenders are gonna shape themselves eventually lol. I should look into a ride-height adjusting system, cause I want it lower when parked, but I wanna be able to drive some fast corners.

Do you take your wheels off also so you can adjust height?

Yeah, I jack up the car, remove the wheels, unbolt the sway bars, unbolt the bottom of the coilovers, loosen the lock nut, spin the bottom of the coilover freely up or down, then put it all back. Actually, I think I can do it without unbolting the sway bars.

I dont think you have to do all of that? Cant you just remove the wheel and spin the bolts holding in the spring rate? I think this calls for a video! lol.

I'm looking for your video... but as I remember, you almost got to changing the height, but you didn't actually show it...I have to see it again to see what you did differently.

Go look for the thread I posted it in? I cant remember which one it was but it was probably my build thread. It should be public, otherwise its on a different youtube profile.

I found one of your videos under HummerH20.... and I would look through your build thread, except it's more off topic than on lol.

OK, I found your video under the hummerH20, but searching through youtube itself this time. Lulz ensued again!

But, you didn't actually change the coilover height in the video, like I thought, just spun the lower locknut.

And, I got confused. You said the lower shaft thing was supposed to move, which is correct. Then, you loosed the bottom locknut, which is correct. But then you said that you have to mess with the upper lock nuts, the factory preload on the spring, to lower the coilovers. I think this is incorrect.... you aren't supposed to mess with those locknuts! You aren't supposed to change the spring preload setting! The entire point of the coilovers is that you can go lower without changing the springs or shocks like that. You are only supposed to undo the bottom nut, and then spin the lower shaft up and down. That's how I do it, only on mine, the shafts are where they bolt to the LCAs. So, I have to unbolt the coilovers from the bottom so that it can spin.

I stopped reading when you said I was doing something incorrect, because I know what your talking about with the spring load and all that. However, im not changing the spring load at all. The bottom bolt loosens the whole assembly so that the heigh cant be adjusted, i DO NOT unscrew those top bolts that are for the spring rate. Because those two top screws are wedged togather, all i do is move the top one to adjust the height which moves the entire strut assembly up and down, it does NOT change the spring rate, IF i was to loosen the bottom bolt and then loosen the other one that would change the spring rate. Make sense?

OK, yeah I see exactly what you mean, that makes perfect sense and is definitely the proper way to do it.... no wonder the video didn't make sense at first hahaha, I thought you were separating the upper locknuts for some reason.

But, what if you just spun the bottom thing? Since you have to hold it in place with the wrench, I assume that it spins freely? I guess it might be harder to turn with everything still bolted together. But, I assume that turning the wrench would do the same thing as turning the upper locknut like you did.

Its only like that in the rear, the front is secure and dosent spin freely, the rear has the I bolt that adjust something completely different though im not sure what it does. Thats why I have to hold a wrench at the bottom and then spin from the top.
