    Engine wont start, Please help!

Ok guys today i did a big NO NO, i was installing my tachometer and i completely F***** up the installation, instead of hooking it up like i was supposed to i miss read the instructions and connected the white (dash lights) wire to the battery, i grounded the black wire, and heres were the IDIOCY comes in, i stuck the it was either red or range wire into the "Diagnostics" port in the engine bay, as far as i know those were the only 3 wires i connected, i also did some wiggling around underneath the steering wheel to look for the tachometer port. I was about done installing everything all i had to do was find were to put the tachometer wire and i still couldent find it. anyways at this point i was done trying to figuire it out, and got sick of turning my car on and off, i did that about 5 times, anyways i moved my car down to the end of the drive away, and after about 45 minutes i went back out to my car and the engine wont start, i can hear the engine rurring and stuff but it wont turn over, i checked the battery and the battery was perfect. By the way the carn turned on and off perfectly fine after i put the wire into the diagnostics, it was after i moved it down the street and about 45 minutes later that it wouldent turn on. I was told i either blew an amp switch or messed up the electrical, can anyone please help me out? I have work tomorrow and school is starting for me next week. I would appreciate any help, thank you so much..

    I would check your fuses.

Also, do any wires feel warm like they've had power running through them?

Does your battery have corrosion on it? Mine gets it quite severely living in the pnw.

if all else fails, pull battery terminal, remove the tach, undo all the changes that have been made. recheck fuses.

I took the battery completely out and its spotlessly clean, member? ;)
anyways i even took the battery to shucks and they told me it was perfect.
Im gonna check the fuses tonight with a buddy from work who builds cars i asked him to come help me out and he will be here in about an hour to check the fuses. Do you think i did any long term damage, y biggest fear is that i fried the computer...
And i completely took out the tachometer.

    yeah, right :)

hopefully there is no long term damage. fuses are supposed to protect from such things but there's always some possibility of damage between the time it shorts and the fuse burning through.

all I can say is ... good luck! buddy sounds competent.

Check the fuses, and check for wires under your steering wheel that got unplugged or cut when you were wiggling it.

Hopefully it was just something minor like a busted fuse.

    1. Buy cluster w/ tach

    2. Swap speedo over from old cluster to new one

    3. Install new cluster in same manner as old one

    4. Enjoy new tach'd cluster

    5. Profit

At least it was an easy fix, it can be scary sometimes after working on your car and then nothing works.

yeah, jeez cbass, you came right out with a HUGELY racist comment.
But I just post a funny pic, and I get dubbed the forum terrorist. Which is cool. I don't know what the problem with being the forum racist is... especially when it's true lol.
