How is it a waste of money? 91 costs 20 cents more per gallon than 87, and if you fill up the tank, which for me usually takes around 11 gallons, that is barely over 2 dollars more to get the premium over regular. I have multiple times seen improvements of up to 7-9 MPG by switching gas alone. Going 400 miles on a tank of gas with the premium compared to 310 with the regular is an extra 90 miles. Current gas prices mean that if instead you stuck with the regular, you would spend an extra 7-8 bucks per tank due to having to fill up sooner. So yes it's more money spent initially to get the good stuff, but it lasts longer. I'm saving about 6 bucks a tank including the higher price of the gas by getting premium. So caring for MPG is not a waste by getting 91. I will once again however say that this is just with my car and personal experience. 87 gas around here is known to be horse piss diluted with water, so anything should be an improvement. Maybe in Maryland the 87 is pretty good stuff so there wouldn't be too much of a difference, but in Cali, we have shitty gasoline.

Ah yeah, I see. Plus, the difference between 87 and 91 is a lot more than $.20 lol.

There's your code. And gold what is the price difference between fuel grades? Here in Cali the signs look like this:
    3.35
    3.45
    3.55
It's always a ten cent increase per grade.

^^ yeah it used to be like that, but ever since I bought a car that takes premium gas, the price differences have gone way up. But it varies by station, by day. Sometimes they'll be 10 cents apart like that, but it's pretty rare anymore. More like 15 or 20 cents apart.

oh wow dude, you're lucky that sensor is still in one piece haha. No wonder you have lots of black smoke! It's probably unburnt fuel and you're running rich. Hopefully this will fix your problems!

well i did not pay attention when my dad drove it, i was a little kid....

when my sister had it, she would never take care of it

I try and take care of it like its an expensive car...i just never payed attention to the oxygen sensor since i never had any trouble codes for it...i was thinking on getting one from a pick-n-pull yard for $15 since they are oem...i just hope my cat is not messed up...

im not broke, well i wont be cuz ima get my check from the crash i was last year next week....i just wanted to get something in the mean time the new denso one arrives, plus i was reading stories that ppl bought new sensor and it would still kick in the CEL and that a used one would not, im going to experiment...

Yeah, when you install the new sensor, you'll need to reset the ECU so it won't throw a CEL.

lol i know that! but if you check corolland/TN ppl disconnect the battery (reset ecu) and the light comes back either 100miles down the road or after a drive....

idk i just wanted one right now cuz my corolla would struggle to accelerate from a stop and its my daily driver...now its back to normal:)

plus i also got the used 02 sensor to get the original gasket as mine was destroyed...the new one will not come with it
