Haha, don't worry, nobody eats in my car, not even me (unless I'm starving). I just want it to fill up the space on the dash, and it would also come in handy when cruising around with chicks  as they can check their make-up and shit in the mirror (my Corolla doesn't come with sun visor mirrors from factory).

Yep, another one to add to the list :). The only tricky part is that I need to find one in plum, as a grey one would look a little out of place (to anyone else it would look normal, but it would bug the hell out of me, lol). The plum coloured interior is rather limited as most of them came out grey, so it will make it extra hard. Should be worth it though.

Nah that would bug me too lol. Or you could have them redone in the correct fabric maybe? But I get the feeling sun visors aren't a major priority for you lol

Fabric? It's plastic ;). I guess if worst came to worst I could spray a grey one plum, but I'd never get the colour exactly the same as the rest of the dash. Haha yeah sun visors don't really bother me. The base models had the ones with mirrors for some reason (they were crappy vinyl though). My SE Limited model is a man's version so doesn't need them [IMG]

Haha, trust you to notice the sunshade :p. I went to the trouble of removing my GPS and radar detector from the windscreen, but forgot something as simple as a sunvisor [IMG]. Yeah I got pretty close to that puddle. I wanted to go further but didn't want all the water flicking down the side of my car when I drove back out. Was a little too windy to get a perfect reflection unfortunately. Will have to try again next time

Took some new interior photos today as the last shots I took were back in February, and a few things have changed since then:

whats the little button behind the shifter for? it looks like for a window but i see your window buttons are already by the window.
Also what does the button on your right hand air vent (left of the blue light) (below your scrollie button) (diagonal of the window control buttons) for?

The button between the shifter and the armrest is my fog light switch :). The button to the left of my LED on the right hand side of the steering wheel is for remote central locking, which I don't use as I have an alarm system. It's basically there to fill up the blank, lol. My Air Purifier switch is hidden in the photo and is located just in front of the armrest.

Here's some closer shots of both:

Interesting location for the fog light switch. Is that the direct OEM option for that? I know that you are the OEM king but I must ask.lol So if you press the Central Locking Button it locks and arms your alarm?

Yep, that switch was used by Toyota when people ticked the fog light option when the car was brand new. The optional fog lights that Toyota would have installed with the switch were white or yellow rectangular ones, but I grabbed the switch from a Corolla at the junkyard and used it for my FX-GT fog lights instead :). I was going to use an FX-GT combination switch (headlights/wiper stalks) as the fog light switch is integrated into the headlight stalk, but that would have cost about $100 from a wrecker and I would have had a rear wiper switch which would have been no use to me. The beauty of having the fog light switch separate to the headlight stalk is that I can't accidentally leave the fog lights on, as I've wired it so that they only work when the key is in the ACC and ON positions. I also don't have to have my park lights on in order for them to work either like most cars require.

As for the remote central locking button, it's from an SE-G model so I've never had it connected, but as far as I can tell, it allows you to turn the remote central locking feature on and off. I'm not sure why anyone would want to turn it off though, so maybe there's a chip inside the key that automatically unlocks the doors when you get within a certain distance (like those flash new cars have got). Would definitely make sense to have a button so that you can turn that on and off when you wanted, although seems a little high tech for back in those days.

Here's the pic from the original brochure:

I was reading on the older part of the thread, and when you put the new MOMO wheel on, that you would leave the cover off... LIAR!!!

Hahaha, I remember re-reading that bit a few weeks ago too. My original intention was to keep it off, but after a couple of days with the cover off I decided to put it back on because the yellow of the Momo horn button was becoming a distraction as I could see it out the bottom of my eyes. I have a black Momo horn button here but wanted to keep it looking authentic. Not only that, but I prefer the cleaner look with the cover on :)

So wait, do you have sun visors or not?? I've never even heard of that dash tray insert. Just another useless piece you gotta have lol....

Yes, there's a sun visor on each side. The dash tray is shown in the original JDM sales brochure. I wouldn't call it useless because the mirror does in fact serve a purpose ;)

lol... those JDM brochures are impossible to read, much less have useful pics. Those are much better!

My sunvisor had mirror on it...... I guess your pass side doesn't? Or do they need 2 mirrors lol. Besides, why would you let girls put on makeup in your car?? Lip stick and powder everywhere!

Also, I have a q.... the air purifiers. I remember you said somewhere if you left them both on for a while it was very fresh/crisp in there or something. So is it basically an add-on in-dash air filter like new cars have? And the air fantasy.... is that basically an OEM version of the little perfume pods you can put on the vents?

Some very good questions there. I'll answer them one by one:

Correct, there is no mirror on the passenger's side sun visor. The NZDM base models had one on that side for some reason, but the JDM models never did (I guess they aren't so vain over there, lol).

Haha, this one made me laugh. I most definitely wouldn't be letting them apply their makeup in my car, but they could check to see how they looked if we were going out somewhere. You know what most girls are like, always trying to look their best, so I'd rather avoid the argument over not having a mirror in my car :D

Yes and no. The OEM Air Purifiers that are installed in my Corolla purify the air inside the cabin by pulling the particles into the a filter inside each unit with electric fans, including any pollutants that enter when the windows were down, whereas a cabin filter found on newer cars only filters the air that comes through the air vents as the car is driving along, so doesn't purify the air that is already inside the cabin when the doors or windows have been opened. When I have the Air Purifiers running I set the HVAC to recirculate and make sure all the windows are up, so that it can purify the air trapped inside the cabin, hence making the car smell fresh/crisp

This is also a yes and no type answer. The Air Fantasy disperses the scent through all four air vents as opposed to the scent just being 'passed' into the cabin by a single air vent. I choose to use both, as the auto store perfume pod comes in handy to make my car smell nice when first getting into it after it's been sitting overnight, whereas the Air Fantasy is good at making the whole cabin smell nice at the press of a button, and has a wider selection of fragrances since it has 3 scent packs inside :)

ah yeah, good answers. I never figured that the cabin filter only cleaned outside air... dang it! No wonder I never got a fresh/crisp feeling inside!

And the Fantasy sounds like a fun toy lol. Can you possibly refill the 3 cartridges with the auto store stuff? That'd be neat and give you an endless supply of Fantasy Fun.

Oh, and make the girls bend over and use the side mirrors ;)

Haha yeah. A cabin filter is good at fighting dust, pollen, odours etc from entering from outside of the vehicle, but don't do a single thing to against the same type of pollutants already inside the vehicle unfortunately. There was actually an Air Purifier available as an optional extra for the Toyota Altezza (practically the same as your car except badged as a Toyota). Pretty sure it's the same sort of purifier that was an option for the JDM 8th Gen Corollas (AE110/AE111). If so, I actually sent one to a guy in the US about a week ago. Maybe you could install one in your Lexus

Yep, that's my plan when the Air Fantasy cartridges eventually run out. That will be a while away as I've got 3 spare ones here, but when they all run dry I plan on getting a syringe and injecting generic air freshener fragrance into each cartridge (a different fragrance for each cartridge) via one of the nipples on the back. So it would essentially be like refilling a printer ink cartridge :)

Good plan about getting them to bend over ;). Perhaps THAT'S why Toyota didn't put any sun visor mirrors on the JDM models :D
