Taking care of the Corolla

    So I've decided that I need to start taking better care of my car, since the last time I changed my oil, it was about 5500 miles, and I'm gonna be buying a Haynes manual again, don't know what happened to the one I had, but I have some general questions regading all the fluids in the car. How often should the power steering, brake, transmission, and radiator fluids be changed? I've owned the car since December 2008 and have only changed the windshield washer fluid, oil, and gas. The power steering fluid still looks good but I don't know if these things get "old" or not. The radiator never overheats, so I don't see a reason to change coolant, but I want to switch everything out as soon as possible with top quality stuff. I've heard Royal Purple is the shit, and one of my buddies who goes to the track uses Water Wetter in his radiator. I might track my car eventually in the next year or so, so I don't want to skimp on anything. Who here uses what brands of stuff and how do they perform, and most of all, can I change these myself, being as easy as an oil change? The coolant is easy obviously, I've changed radiators on cars a thousand times, but I have no idea about the transmission fluid, brake fluid, and power steering.

    I'll check it out, I've put 32K miles on it since I have had the car, and it's never been done, so it may be time. Is it something I could do myself fairly easily, considering I have never done that? I guess I should stop asking questions until I get the manual, but I'm just curious.

    Water Wetter is not what you want for the street. Its generally used for the track where they don't allow glycol anti-freeze. Use a 70 % anti-freeze to 30 % water and you will never have any rust issues. I use prestone. Cheap and effective.

    It's all good. We all learn over time. I'm sure I can learn a few things from you just because I have kept things pretty basic on my ride. My suspension bits need some love. All sorts of knocking sounds that I'm not particularly digging.
