They should string him up and tie his dead corpse by his balls (if he has any) over the 9/11 site.

Lowered into the sea!? they shoulda threw him overboard in a garbage bag.

Something that bugs me is that it took 11 years to find and kill him and it only took 24 hours to BURY him.
I smell a conspiracy theory coming.

Im sure if he was buried someone would try and get the body or something like that and I believe cremation is forbidden. Its also quite amazing that pakistan supposedly did not have knowledge of him hiding there. yeahhhh righhttt

Why would the United States lie about Bin Laden's death when his closest advisors could either confirm or deny the fact?

Why would the United States want to infuriate more Muslims by disrespecting his body and throwing it into a garbage bag?

It blows my mind that my fellow citizens are shocked to learn that the United States once funded the Afghan insurgents against the Soviets. The South Park episode in which Bin Laden helped the town of South Park fend off the Jersey Shore stereotypes was very accurate.

"Very accurate" isn't the best term. "Appropriate" is more like it.

Oh you quotes yourself... I was confused for a second haha
I don't really know what to make of the whole thing, if he's dead, that's cool, but if not, that's cool too, since it's been basically a decade since the last attack in this country. We're so insane about security I doubt anything could happen anyway, if they tried it. I miss the days of meeting someone at the gate at the airport.

I have two problems with this whole thing.

1: He was found in Abbottabad, Pakistan, only like 35 miles from the capital of the country. If Pakistan has supposedly been helping us for almost a whole damn decade, why is it that they "didn't know" that he was right there? Not only that, the little fortress he was in was less than 10 football fields away from a freaking MILITARY COMPOUND for the Pakistani military. I'm sorry, but if you are the military of a country, and you have the world's number one terrorist in your country, holed up in a building with 9 foot walls and barbed wire, and you aren't releasing that information, that means two things: 1) you either knew about it and weren't doing anything, which is wrong, or 2) you truly had no idea that Bin Laden was a few blocks from a army compound, despite him being the most sought after person in the world (to my knowledge), which makes you extremely incompetent as a country, which is also wrong. Either way, there's something jacked about the whole situation.

2: People are throwing a big fit because it turns out he wasn't armed when he was killed, and that he used his wife as a shield to protect himself, but we blew them all away. Who cares if he was unarmed and we killed him? I don't recall the 3000+ Americans he killed on September 11 2001 being armed either, and yet he doesn't give a shit about that. So yeah he was unarmed, big deal. The mission was to eradicate him off the face of the earth, so if his wife and other people in his little compound were killed, well that's just too damn bad. Mission accomplished, welcome to America.

oooo big bad osama used his wife as a shield. what a big man he is!
oh and anyone have insight into how involved he still was with al-quaida? Didnt the compound have zero phone lines? Maybe we just killed someone who has just become a symbol of terrorism rather than someone that is currently masterminding attacks...idk

The place had no phone, no internet, nothing. Dude must not have even gone outside, they say the trash was being burned inside the place, rather than be put outside for collection.

Yea, same here. This is boring.

After September 11, 2001, Bin Laden became more of a ghost of terrorism rather than a symbol. If he didn't have any contact with the outside world, it sounds like his terrorist buddies thought to themselves "This guy is as good as dead. Let's just stick him in a mansion so he can live out the rest of his life not in a hole like Saddam."

EDIT: I really need to read the news before I post things on the internet:

"Al-Qaeda is not a person, it is an institution," Aboud al-Zumur, a friend of al-Zawahiri and founding member of Egypt's Islamic Jihad, told AFP news agency.
Echoing a similar tone, a Pakistani lawmaker associated with a hardline Islamic group warned, "Osama was the name of an ideology and an ideology does not die with the death of a person."

    Word.

According to two sources at the briefing Tuesday, CIA Director Leon Panetta told lawmakers that Pakistani officials either "were involved or incompetent. Neither place is a good place to be."

I'm still on the fence about this one... E, you've got insight into some of this stuff more than some of us do still don't you? what's your thoughts on this?

I personally think it was a good win psychologically for the American people but overall it won't really change the fact that Al-Qaeda still is, and probably will be for quite a long time, a threat. We're still going to have to face some challenges ahead in the ongoing fight and defense of our country, maybe even more so now that the so-to-speak figurehead posterboy of the group has been slain.

    Just my thoughts...

That's what I was thinking, I think I put that too in my previous post. No matter the situation, doesn't look good.
    Added: May 4, 2011 7:54 PM
How's that? I'm not doubting it or anything, just curious. Don't really know what he does for a living, maybe he's CIA lol
    Added: May 4, 2011 7:55 PM
Pretty much, that's all that needs to be said about bin Laden specifically, but I don't think it means we're out of the clear, obviously we still need to be careful about security and whatnot.

As long as the United States continues to use brute force as its primary means of diplomacy, it cannot be assumed that all opposition to the US and its allies will ever be eradicated from the face of the Earth. This does not imply that all efforts to set boundaries to combat terrorism will be wasted.

Vortex, you are correct. Bin Laden had become a shell of a human being, a face of an ethos that glorifies violence in the name of a higher power. It would be naive to think that Al-Qaeda is going to stand around with their hands in their pockets while all of this is going on. The United States would do itself a favor by remaining vigilant and not getting drunk in the streets over some dead 50 year old man.

EDIT: My bad, Mackman. My second paragraph repeats what you said in your third.

And Vortex is right. E is privy to this sort of thing. FFS, E, say something. You're the one complaining about there not being enough posts in this thread.

Now I'm watching CNN and they seem to be leaning towards a conspiracy theory because "Waahhh, we wanna see a body". Do these people still believe the Earth is flat?

It's not real, they already came out and said that they will not be releasing the photos of his dead body.
