    DIY starter removal/testing

Hey guys does anyone have any tips on removing the starter? my friend told me it looks like he has to remove the header in order to get to the rest of the starter bolts. Is that right? Anyone done it before? How easy is the removal of the header and putting it back on?

Also while attempting to remove the starter we unbolted the 2 long screws on the left side of the starter with the battery still plugged in, may that have damaged the starter?

OH BTW this is a youtube i found of the same noise my car is making, but after fucking with the starter all it does now is click click click so im assuming the starter was failing and now its dead.

For 8th gen, no you don't need to remove the header, but you need to remove the intake manifold.

On the 8th gen if you have to remove the intake pipe or air filter box to remove the top BOLT that is going towards the starter through the tranny frame the other bolt you get is under the stater going into the tranny frame ... They dont unbolt the same way one is one way the other is the other way :) It says it in the manual too :)
