Good choice. Letting it go for better things is the way it should be. You still have the 86. :)

Why turbo the Corolla when the 2011 STi will eat it for breakfast at half throttle?

Wow, you know so much about cars, please enligthen us as to how a car that weights 3373lbs with only 305 hp and a weight to power ratio of 11.06/lbs per hp will eat a built corolla, that can hit 305 easily with the right size turbo and boost pressure with only 2500lbs or less and a power to weight ratio of 8.2lbs per hp, at only half trottle at that? Super Powers?

And don't f-ing give me some bullshit about it's AWD system, because that is not NEARLY enough to make up for the weight difference.

Aerodynamics wise, these cars aren't much different. They have just about the same Coefficent of Drag, and Frontal Surface Area is just about the same too. To have any serious advantage aerodynamics wise, the car would have to have an F-body or start looking like Ferraris and such.

And you do realize the corolla he has now is paid already right? Building and turboing a corolla the rich man's way will not cost him over $15, 000. A bone stock 2011 subaru will cost him over $30,000 and it will still suck balls after the $30,000 and be a P.O.S stock car.

Your corolla on the other hand will be a nightmare for Lots and Lots and LOTS of tuner cars out there.

I am assuming that statement is just a justification for you quiting your corolla project halfway for an upgrade, which isn't a bad thing, but in your mind it is a bad thing and that makes you want to justify it.

Easily 305 in a Corolla? What are you smoking? You know how much work you need to put into the motor to support that? In the end AWD > FWD any day unless all you like doing is going fast in a straight line. The reason people want to get rid of their Corollas is to upgrade. It's not exactly an iconic car. Unless you're willing to sink in some serious cash like Pedro's award winning Corolla has, I don't see the point.

I've realized that after pouring money into this thing, there is just no real enjoyment from it. There are so many better platforms that money can be spent on. It doesn't have to be a 30k dollar car. It just doesn't justify pouring thousands of dollars into a Corolla to match or beat a car of a higher platform. And good luck selling the Corolla after you decide to let it go later on.

The new STI pretty much sucks in my opinion. Save some money and get an 04-07 for about 20-25g and spend the rest of mods. The new STI is a step down from the previous and is much softer than the old style....I will NEVER buy the new STI

Well if you part it out, I call dibs on the hood, if you'd be willing to sell that. I don't know how detailed the parting out will get.

Selling stock is so much easier. Parting out actually nets you more money.
