why not? Many people all over the world have a 20V motor in their daily driven Corollas, Levins, Truenos, etc

Depends on what you are thinking about a daily driver - what you are after, what is most important to you for a DD?

As far as engine reliability - the A-series engines are near bulletproof. Better breathing and how the 20V 4AGE responds to mods is just a bonus. Fuel economy will depend on mods - but being a small displacement engine, it will pretty decent on MPG. Driveability - how flexible the engine is in daily stop and go traffic, highway cruises, etc. - as JspeXAE102 alluded to, this is an OEM engine in other cars - so daily driving is not an issue.

For a track car - i.e., you have quite a bit of engine work in the 20v 4AGE - then that might not really be suited for daily driven purposes. All depends on the owner too - some people have daily driven Lotus Exige S 260 and Caterham Super 7 - some prefer to only track those cars or the occasional weekend blast.

one of my concerns are parts, its hard to putting it in my head that i can just walk into any toyota parts department and they would be able to get me OEM parts.... yes i might have to wait but if parts are available

im not gonna go crazy on mods, maybe just basic bolt ons...header,stacks,fuel pressure regulator, spark plugs /wire set.. etc...

for me daily would be maybe around 10-15 miles a day.. i work 3 miles away from my house, the the local car meets are around 7 miles... so not alot of driving involved...

thats wat im running rite now!!!

wheres the link of his car???

i wana see this, its kinda hard for me to believe 600hp daily teggy... i know that cuz here on so cal, there is a handful of teggy that are hitting 400hp and arent daily drivers... and trust me theres more honda cars/acura here in so cal that taxi cabs in New york

OK, I see where you are going with this. Note - even with the 4AGE 16v variants and even some 4AFE, there might be some lead-time involved regardless, depending on the parts. There are some sites that cater to replacment parts for the 20v 4AGE, like www.toysport.com, but I'm not sure if they are still active.

Back in the day - I had a '71 Dodge Dart with the 225 Slant-6 as my daily, and some mildly built SB/BB Chevy and Mopar project cars. Even though parts were widely available, I found that my time was limited. There could be instances where I couldn't throw a wrench on my car for a week or two. If that car was my daily driver, I would have been SOL until I found some free time to work on it. The Slant-6 in comparison, was pretty much bulletproof - always started and always got be to where I needed to be.

If you had a second car - then I'd say go for it. If this is your only set of wheels at the moment, then it is up to you on how much downtime you could live with, or the "threshold of pain" so to speak - in the event, even if remote, that a serious breakdown will have on you.

    gee, my bad... 500*hp
there is no link to his car, o_O
he has built it in his garage over the past few years...

502hp last time it was dynoed, like a year and something a go... but it started skidding after 7500rpm... but there might still be room for more "proven" hp maybe 20~30 more... maybe
he has it limited to 8200rpm just to be safe.

    b-hybrid
    punched out to basically 2L
some 22 or 25psi... dun remember, 9:1 compression
    darlton / eagle / wiseco / cometic metal gasket / 1000cc / blablablabla

I'll take a picture of it when he's changing the wheel bearing in my car saturday if you still don't believe lol.

it's not running atm, engine broke cause of the pot holes in PR, got a nasty one and the oil pan bent and starved the oil pump... yea... good bye half of the bottom part of the engine.

then i should really think about it..... then im better off boosting my car then....or idk, maybe fully built??

oh okay a whole different ball park, but still 9:1 comp ratio and running high boost??? he must really have a good fuel system.. i know cuz before my geo, i had a 97 Ek hatch, with a b20 block/gsr head, running 8.5:1 comp with t3 turbo set up.. with 15 lbs i was puttin out 330hp, but i wouldnt boost more, that was enough for me.. lol

Sorry to be off topic Edwin but I gotta know why you got rid of a 330hp hatch for a Geo???? 330hp is very driveable daily. I know guys with 400hp+ Si's that drive their cars daily.

But in response to the OP, the 4age 20v is very reliable as a daily. Even with minor bolt ons it will still be reliable and get great MPG. The only downside as stated is the availability of parts. Tough call.

dont get me wrong hell yeah i got good power and not bad MPG, it was a badass car..... but i got my hatch stolen like 3 years ago... i loved it but i now i wanted to go sleeper and i found that the geo would be one sick ass sleeper... right now i have a 94 Eg, but my girlfriend drives it....

My good friend uses his 20v as a daily driver. His 7afe Corolla was his dd but the engine crapped out, so he needed a new engine for his dd, just so he ended up buy a ae112 Levin front clip for a new engine. I'd say as long as it's not overly modded, as to not attract unwanted attention. My friend's engine could pass off as a completely stock engine. just with an intake and the letters 20v on the valve cover.
