After 10 years, the airbag should be inspected due to age since they may not work at all. For a 7th gen, removing the airbag isn't that big a deal.

I rather eat the steering wheel, than the airbag making my glasses into contacts.

it is, one of the reasons i did do it cuz my airbag light would on and off once in a while, i actually asked around and i got info that when air bag light flashes or stays lit with out either air bag deployed that airbag module is either bad or malfunctioning so its safe if i took it off cuz the bag could go off any time...

In the state of oregon if you get pulled over and they notice a detachable steering wheel you can get a ticket, its for "track use only."
My friend has a honda and he has one, kinda useless on a toyota because no one will wanna steal it anyways. And as far as airbags go youll never really go fast enough to need it, jk (humor)

its still useless for any cars because any professional thieves no how to steal a car with quick release by using a vice grip to steer.

well its not meant to be a anti theft device to begin with. It was designed to let drivers get out of a fully caged race car with high boaster bucket seats more easily. It's especially useful in endurance races where quick driver changes are necessary.

It's illegal becuase you're tampering with the OEM safety equipment of the car. The car comes with an airbag there, and you're removing it. It's like taking out the seatbelts if you don't use them. After 10 years, yes the airbag needs to be serviced which usually means replacement. You should be willing to dish out some money to be safe, rather than just look cool with your ricey steering wheel.
