    Hummers DIY halo's

    Per request.

This DIY is for a 2001-2002 corolla head lights, while it can be done on a 98-00, I don't recommend it, you can ask why via pm.

If you've never removed your head lights before, you will need to remove your entire front bumper. The next thing you will need to do it remove the bolts located below in red boxes.

Second, the halos are not very bright, as you can see here:

So if you want extremely bright Halos your best bet is to look for different halos then the ones I am providing.

Next, the halos. They're sold on ebay, you find them by searching:
"BMW E36 E39 Angel Demon Eyes DDE Kit PRE-WIRED BLUE LED"
    By seller: "aphase-auto"
Cost: $37 for a set of four.

Number one is easy to remove, just grab the right socket and unbolt it.
Number two is the screw that holds on the turn signal lights, you'll need to take those out.
Number three is a bolt that hold the head light to the fender, remove it also.
Number four is the biggest pain and will require you to remove your bumper to reach it.

Once you have done all the above steps you should have removed the head light from the vehicle.

Next you will need to make sure anything that can melt like the bulbs, high beam, and low beam are removed. You will also need to remove the rubber moisture guards on the back.

One all that is done grab a cookie sheet and place a skin of tin foil on top of it, pre-heat your oven to 320 degrees and set a timer for 9 minutes. Place the head light inside and watch it every so couple minutes (just incase). Make sure NOTHING in the oven is touching the head light and that its not close to the heated panels or walls.

Once the head light has been in the oven for 9 minutes grab some gloves and a flat head and begin prying open the headlight but be careful not to get any of the glue on the lense or inside of the head light because its a pain to take of.

Once the lens is taken off the cover, let it cool off for a little, once you have the halos make sure you line up the right halos to the right spot in the high beam low beam area, (depends on wiring) once you have done so you will need to line up the halo with the bulb so that its center of the bulb. The low beam halo should sit flush with the lense and have little wiggle room. I used some epoxy glue to glue it into place. But before you glue anything in you need to place the halos in the oven at 250 degrees for about 5 minutes repeatedly until the halo that fits into the high beam area is flexible enough to be bent to fit inside because the halos are big. The high beam halo should be able to fit just perfectly into the high beam area of the head light, the halos will not break or crack under the pressure so don't be afraid to use a little force to get them inside there. Make sure the smoothe side of the halos are facing the lense, the under side of the halos, the rough side is not as bright!

Once the halos are in place make sure the wires are hidden out of view and tucked in at the top of the head lights in the cracks, once everything is to your liking place the head light and lens back into the oven and give it about 5 minutes at 250 degrees for the glue to melt before trying to pry the head light and lens back together.

Once everything is complete you will need to wire everything up! grab a voltmeter and start testing your corner light wiring, you gotta find which wire is the ground and which wire is the power, this will determine when the halos are on, mine are wired to turn on with my corner lights. I forgot which wires on the halos are ground and power, but once you recieve the halos in the mail there are instructions that label ground and power, once everything is wired up make sure they work and install the head lights back into the car and enjoy. :)

Why is your right windshield wiper higher than it seems it should be?

LOL.. I had been wondering about the wiper myself LOL :D

I have CCFL halos in mine, and they light up super bright and even all the way around. If yours are LED, then you could upgrade if you cared. But it helps that your head lights are blacked out.

Aren't they wired into your headlights though? If you don't care for them, why don't you wire them to a switch like you said?

hey hummer, im assuming the halos you used were plastic. only making sense how you could put them in an oven and bend it wider. im wondering if these would work better, considering they are ccfl with ballasts.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Angel-Eye-Halo-CCFL-125mm-WHITE-rings_W0QQitemZ350148811103QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item51867ed95f#ht_2803wt_1286
only thing im afraid of is they will be too small, it claims on the page that they are plastic and not glass. so im assuming i will be able to do the same as you and widen them?

Those are perfect, though im not exactly sure how elastic they are. The ones i used were extremely flexable and would not crack under any pressure.

Hey man, Hummer used LED halos, so yeah they were plastic. However, you linked to CCFL halos, which are little glass tubes surrounded by plastic to protect it. They are NOT flexible, bendable, anything. You cannot change them at all.

PS hummer, do you have a CCFL tube around the projector lens now?
