Can anyone answer What's in my Oil Pan ??

Well I went to change my oil pan gasket I discovered some brass looking stuff at the bottom of the pan . Can anyone tell me what they think it might be ?? When I moved it with my finger it felt like mud as you can see in the photo .

Other then that the car doesnt smoke or burns oil and it all looked good underneath there .
    :dunno:

You name it, it's probably in there.

Figure this way. You've got years of junk that has collected there. Everything from dirt sediment to metal shavings (yes, metal shavings are normal over time in small amounts).

More than likely, this is all the sludge that was too heavy to be picked back up with the oil pump or drained out with oil changes. I've seen this before on cars that otherwise run just fine so I wouldn't panic about it. :)

It might be oil sludge as well when oil absorbs water over time. Just clean it all out and run synthetic. A lab test would confirm whether or not you have a problem or not as well.

Wow. That looks pretty bad. Is that on your 7th gen or 8th gen? I would guess that it wouldn't be able to get into the engine since its stuck to the bottom, so I don't think you have to worry about it. Just clean it up.

i think someone secretly sneek in at night, opened up your oil pan and took a dump in it.
