Problem is that no matter what you do, it wont help in situations like that.

    UPDATE:

So I will buy a motorcycle. I figured it should be a good investment and a learning experience that is priceless.

Now lets get down to the "what bike" part.

    1. I found an 01 kawasaki eliminator 125 with 2k miles for 1k. The fact that it has that low miles for a bike thats 8 y.o. scares me.

    2. Someone's selling a kawasaki ninja 250 with 8k miles for 2k. This dude used his bike like a biker should I guess and even had some racing runs (according to him). That scares me.

Some info you might need to judge what bike I should go with:
    - WONT be driving on freeway. If so, probably just for maintenance/repair
    - Will drive in back roads approx 10 miles a trip. 2 way - 1 lane each roads. 50% of w/c 45mph posted limit, other 50% 30mhp limit.
    - If Im still alive in a year, Ill be transfering to a university down the road. A 5mile trip on a 2 lane feeder going 45-55mph.

    Personally:
I would rather go with the 125 because
    - less maintenance (smaller, simpler engine)
    - I dont NEED anything bigger since I wont go in the freeway.
    - 1k cheaper
    - After abusing this bike and gaining exp, then buy a bigger bike. 500cc - 600cc maybe?

I would go for the 250cc because:
    - its bigger, and bigger is almost always better. yet its small enough for a beginner.
    - I probably wont ask for a more powerful bike until this dies.

Please dont just go for the 250 because its bigger. Judge with reason.

Sorry for the long post. This is like buying a car for me... I have been staying up late for the past week trying to decide if I will or will not buy a bike... Now Im deciding on what bike to get.

The Ninja 250/500's are tried and true. I almost bought one when learning to ride, but I picked up a Ninja 650R instead. :D

I think the 250 would be better, just because you wouldn't have to get another bike anytime soon. The 250 should have enough power for local driving.

Well, I came to see the 125 today. I drove it to 50mph and I dont mind it being underpowered. I however didnt like the fact that it has rust in some spots, kill switch is missing, and it takes a while for the idle to go down after revving from neutral (is that common?)

Guess Ill go for 250. I am looking at ninja 500s too since there are some around town for the same price as the 250...
