redlight tickets in CA were $371.. and that was before the budget crisis. It'll probably be much more now.

Red lights are tricky. I never attempt to make them. Even if you mash it to make it, you still qualify for a speeding ticket. And if you're speeding and miss the red light, the cop can be an ass and give you a ticket for both. Not worth the risk imho. Both tickets here in California are just too nasty.

In Virginia, a Yellow light means "Clear the Intersection" which means "If you are already in the intersection, keep going. If you are not in the intersection, do not enter it."

Under no circumstances does a yellow light mean "Hurry up, it's about to turn red."

oh you mean a camera took a picture of you running a red ligh?... maybe if you said that it would have been more clear to understand. When cops pull you over for a violation they right you a ticket with a base fine on the ticket. Atleast they do here in Oregon.

In texas, err at least from other people's experiences here: if yellow, make sure you are off the line before red or else you are dead. Someone was driving a towtruck and although his speed was constant (a bit under limit) he figured he didnt have enough breaking power to actually stop so he didnt. He got a warning and the officer explained that if the ass of the truck cleared the line he would have been good.

i learned the hard way when i got a ticket that it's only done as a courtesy and not a mandatory procedure to send out a notice when i lived in so cal. having the written citation is suitable and is the persons responsibility to follow up. unless it's a camera, than you will receive the citation in the mail.

Wow. A warrant? The worst I've had is a license suspension for accidentally forgetting about a no front license plate ticket/fine.

Yea thats what the cop told me when he pulled me over about a year after I got that citation. Luckly I didn't get arrested but I was hancuffed while they searched my car. Even worst the jay walking fine compounded up to about $300.. Well that was years ago.
