    My attempt at amber corners...

    FAIL lol

Bought the vinyl and stuff. Saw a video on how to do it, read instructions, majority of went good but the edges were not the best ones. You be the judge, btw this is my frist attempt ever, any advice? Also i took it off obviously but took pics for advice and to see how it looked.

Your not the only one. I tried that shit from rvinyls and it sucked bad. Pissed me off.. So I did some research and found some stuff called tamiya clear orange paint. The stuff works great. I tried it on my old prizm corner and it turned out decent. Just need to add a few more coats to make it darker.

that is definitely a fail... but i love the look youre going for.

i also used the tamiya plastic "amber" model paint and then put a light layer of the "smoke" over it so it matches my amber reflector in my headlights. you should be able to see in my sig, the headlights in my signature are cleared, but if you want ill post larger shots.

amber turn signals are more authentic than clear ones. But use, amber bulbs. The regular one from your local auto parts store, that looks bluish but lights up amber.

I think depending on the state you have use amber lights for turn signals. I have the bulbs that give a little blue hint when they are off but light up amber. Because I got pulled over running white bulbs in a clear lens.

I didnt go the paint route cause i have no experience with that and if something goes wrong, kinda hard to get it back to its original shape, and then id have to go buy another corner and bla bla bla. So thats the reason i went this route but i think had this vinyl been a lil thinner, wouldve looked a lot better but now since i bought this, im gonna go ahead and try again and hopefully have it right this time. I did use the suggested items and steps that ive seen all over the place but what can you say...

Actually the biggest reason for me doing this is not i wanna copy or go all JDM, but its cause i have HID's and that i have some real bright PIAA white bulbs to match the HID's but theyre still far off in comparison. Makin them amber would match with my blinkers during day and at night when i have my lights on.

that would be false... if what youre talking about is the toyota cavalier.

the car was built in the united states and shipped over to japan where it was badged a toyota. there are "JDM" trd parts for it, but nothing about the car itself is "JDM"

Does it matter? Anybody can do whatever look they want to their car, as long as it's all functional modifications with genuine advantages, why do you make everything such a big deal?

It's just contradicting since it's a Japanese brand marketed as an American car now being treated to import upgrades and looks. It's like Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder. "I'm the dude playing the dude disguised as another dude!"

who cares????? you put that absurd kit on yours not too long ago but you got rid of it, so now if someone tries something different, its a rice thing??? Anyways, the ambers are on and to all the haters, yall would wanna look at this again cause fo real, the bashin started even before i got to complete it. It didnt come on perfect but its where you get real upclose and see imperfections. Overall it looks badass. Will post pics after detailing the car this weekend

"absurd kit" versus home depot rubber molding. that's a hard choice, but i would have to go with the real mod and pick the kit.

hey geo did you use a blow dryer and lots of soapy water to amber that corner? because it really really off... plus you also need an xzacto knife...

it looks like you try to use a scissor to do the cutting...

to each his own, but like i said earlier, had no one known of what it is in the first place, i can bet you anything, there wouldve been nothing but praise.

actually the pics i have posted didnt come out right, im gonna post pics over the weekend after detailing the car, and trust me, youd not wanna miss that =) I think it came out SICK!!!! It isnt perfect but like i said before, you need to get up real close to see the imperfections

Thanks a lot! To be honest, not to be all arrogant, but im loving it as a whole, interior wise, exterior wise. I think it has come out a lot more better than i thought it would and its a 16 year old car with 130K or so miles. Im not complaining =)

Exactly how I feel with my car. Except mine is like 22yo and only has 60k miles. I just removed my seat covers and made the interior look like it just rolled out of the factory. God I love my car.

    On the topic.
It does look bad BUT whatever does not kill you make you a better person. Trying things out, whether it works or not, will make you gain something, be it experience or knowledge etc.

    Props for you.
