Has anone bought anything at "Rock Auto"

its like autopartswarehouse.com but they have cheaper stuff...

Would you guys get the "closeout" stuff with only 30 days warranty or the usual stuff that are 10+ $ more? Total of the none-closeout stuff is $250ish.

I will more than likely put off lowering the car for now for three good reasons:
    1. 250$ - as compared to 150ish (moog) or even 100ish (husky)
    2. not a need
    3. possible to lessen life span of struts

With that said, does anyone know of Husky or moog springs? Coments/Suggestion regarding both?

I've used Rock Auto and their prices are good. Shipping is pretty quick too. I've done the 30 day warranty, but I would only do it on certain things.

Thanks guys... Ill order within the week...

And you would not do it on struts? Suspension is one of those stuff one does not go cheap on, well cheaper that is... With springs front n back im looking at 400+$. I guess thats better than what the shop around the corner is charging... rear struts for 500$

    EDIT:
Any comments about MOOG or HUSKY springs?

No, I wouldn't do it on struts. I got some bump stops on a closeout deal, and they were half price. But its just a piece of rubber, there's not really much that can go wrong with it

I'm getting ready to replace my clutch and I'm going to order the clutch kit, slave and master cylinder from Rock Auto. They have a close out on a master cylinder for $15 with the 30 day warranty, but I think I'm going to get all AC Delco parts. You get what you pay for, unless you know when to spot a good deal.

quick struts are basicly everything. The strut, spring and top mounting plate. It comes all put together so you dont need to compress your old spring onto the new strut. I would recommend going with quick struts just because your other springs are probably worn out and weak. They are a little pricey but saves labor time of compressing springs.

Unfortunately, I have never come across someone who sells quick struts for my car... I am buying the strut assembly tho, what comes with the "assembly" anyway?

I am buying springs and the strut mounts cuz i know they need replacing.

i think...if you take it somewhere and ask if they can compress the spring and mount the mounting plate for you...it would cost you a half hours labor or something...then its just easy remove/replace for you

damn ur smart. and i should be charged less huh, but that means less business for them so idk if they will actually do it. but I will give it a try...

    EDIT:
i just remembered something, dont you have to have the spring compressor to put the entire assy back in the car anyway?

no...once the top plate is mounted back on, it keeps the spring compressed

you should be charged less..but *most* shops charge by the hour/half hour rather then the minute.

You will probably have to go to a privately owned shop or someone you know, because the average Firestone/Tire Kingdom etc. will not do it. They don't want to be held reliable if you go home and don't install something correctly. I called around to replace the hub and bearing, and told them I would take them the whole steering knuckle. But they wouldn't do it.

definitely not going to those people anyway... My uncle knows some filipino owned/operated shops and ill try them... They offered 500 for all 4 struts replaced. Im thinking if I should just have them do the work.

my friend and I installed springs and new struts within a couple of hours. Granted it helped he had air tools but no lift just jackstands. Only used the Corolla Haynes Manual for the most part.

I ALWAYS buy from them whenever I can. I've bought all 4 calipers from them, various screws, etc. Quick delivery since I'm close to their warehouse.

I just want to give another review.

I buy stuff for my mom's Mini Cooper from them because they have a lot of stuff that I can't get from Discount Auto Parts. Well she needs a water pump, and I placed an order for one and they said they didn't have anymore. That's kinda understandable because its not a common car.

Well on the same order I put the clutch, master and slave cylinder for my car. I ordered all AC Delco parts and they didn't have any of them. Then I replaced them with Rhino parts and they didn't have the slave cylinder, so I have to wait 2 weeks before they ship out my order.

So all in all, they are good as long as they have the parts in stock. Anyone looking to buy parts may want to call them first just to make sure that the parts are in stock.
