Tire damage, repairable? cost?

Hey guys, my sister and her husband bought this Volkswagon i think its a GTI?



in an auction for $1,500, thyre using it as a parts car for this other car thyre fixing up. All thyre taking is the seats and interior panels, the car looks like an 04-05 and they told me once thyre done with it thyre gonna sell it, so i told them i would buy it if they do. The only major problem is this damage...



What do you think?
Its already lowered and i think i might be able to get it cheap especialy with my birthday in 2 weeks. It was a b-day gift to my sister lol even though she wont be driving it.

Looked to me like the strut was bent (easily replaceable) not sure the other stuff.

Hmmm just have in mind that VW parts are EXPENSIVE even used. I used to work at a VW dealership here in Denver and man the bills I would see just for basic maintenance was outrageous lol......... That seems to be a Golf and not a GTI. As far as I know GTI's only came in a 2 door until the new gen came out but correct me if I'm wrong.

yea im not too familiar with VW, but if my brother in law can get it fixed cheap im gonna snag it.

About $1,200 to fix my damage after last years accident and that was just to get it back on the road. Thats with my employee discount.. Basicly a whole junkyard rear end was put in. And mine's an 01










Idk if I would go for something like that buts its all what you wanna do. You do have a car to drive while this one gets fixed so why not?

my friend did the same thing to his ae86, and he tried to fix it. He used heat to bend the metal back to shape. This is a horrible idea because once the metal gets old and rust, the strength of the metal will crack/ rust, and probably snap. no matter what you do that part of the body will never be as strong as it was even when it's fixed.

so he ended up junking his car.

It's a guaranteed lemon. Have them use it for parts and sell the rest for scrap. It's not worth fixing. You'll never get it to drive straight ever again. And it won't be stable.

I know but just saying that even if he does a junk yard run he'll still have a hard time saving money trying to fix her up.... I'd look for another car if I was you lol

well its not a gti, its just a golf. probably a 2.0l GL. but it looks like the 99-06 styling. and that back end looks fucked. i wouldnt trust it.

keep the rims, headlights, an intake if it has one and sell them.

how the hell do people do this? ive pushed cars to their absolute limits , even had a 94 prizm airborne about 5 foot of the ground , and forded 3 feet of water in the same day , at nearly 60 mph (local "moonshine run" rally), and never have i seen catastrophic failure of this scale.

The VW's with the 2.0 or famously known as the 2.Slow lol are just crazy slow, when you push the engine it sounds like if it's gonna blow up and the car is going very slow lol. My dad had a new 03' Jetta GLS 2.O and he complained about it all the time, I was like I told you so! should've listened to me and bought the 1.8t or the VR6 lol. I did like the body style for that year, gauges on the VW's are pretty darn cool too and not talk about the Moonsoon sound system :druel: best stock sound system I've heard so far.

The second photo didn't look so bad, but looking at the first photo - you can see where the top and rear of the rear door is basically touching the door opening (almost no gap). Looks like the unitbody is jacked up - even if you could repair the suspension and put the body on a jig, it will never drive right.

It will still be a useful project car to work on - get some experience, then part out the car to make up your money.

And what is going on with the truck behind the VW - looks like it has some decent amount of front end / hood damage there (hood is all buckled up). That or that is the craziest hood I'd ever seen. Or is that another project in the works.

mazdaspeed3 wagons are quick too. and roomy

the silverado in the back is another project repair, its only damage is that it got side swiped it still runs and drives perfectly they just gonna replace the fender and hood.
