Ford sells more cars in April than Toyota

Filed under: Car Buying, Ford, Toyota

What's this? Somehow, the natural order of things in the automotive world has been upset to the point that Ford (129,898 total units) has outsold Toyota (126,540 total units) in the United States in the month of April. For those keeping track of such things, this is the first time in over a year that the Blue Oval (consisting of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury, but not including Volvo) has moved more machines than the mighty Toyota.

Normally, posting a 31% decline in sales compared to the same month a year earlier wouldn't be cause for celebration, but that drop is actually considerably smaller than at rival automakers, including Toyota, which saw sales fall by an almost unbelievable 42%. Not a single Toyota nameplate posted sales gains in April of '09.

Ford, on the other hand, found something to hang its hat on with the new 2010 Fusion. Ford moved 18,321 Fusions in April, which is a 21.7% improvement over last April and a record for any month. That success was offset somewhat by the 35.8% decline in F-Series truck sales, but a gain is a gain, and Ford will take anything it can get.

well yes, you're buying an expensive truck. that's large amounts of money. it's also not hard to get a credit score into the 700s if you're smart about your money. i don't see where achieving this is difficult.

toyota's tier 1 is 720 and above which is not a hard score to get and i think the 0% is for 36 months which most people can't afford.

i do see this achieving this is difficult especially if i dont have the money to pay off all my past debt and have other current bills, maybe if i win the lottery or mega buck now thats a different story:D

well, yes, if you screw up it's hard to keep your credit clear.

unless you save, instead of dumping money into useless things, and pay as much as you possibly can on those bills. i was eating ramen and PB&J daily for awhile so i could pull myself out of debt...if i can do it, so can you. consolidate your loans, refinance if you can. do ANYTHING to get them down. bad credit follows you for 7 years from your final payment.

only reason why they're selling so much is because they offer to pay for your car for a whole year lol, else they'd still be sucking at sales lol.... even this plan is gonna come back to bite them in the ass once people will just use a car for a whole year and then drop it lol
