98 corolla Peeling interior door trim. What to do?

In my 98 corolla the interior vinyl door trim border is all peeling on all the doors (the ones that border the door sills and frame). I see other corolla's like this too. I peeled most of it off and under neath is white and has a sticky texture. I assume in time this will get filled with dirt and other nasty collection of stuff.

What can I do to fix this or remedy this in a simple manner? What has anyone else done that also encountered this dilemma? Thanks.

Mine is peeling too. I haven't really done anything about it yet. I might just lay some vinyl over it later.

yup i have that too. just make a clean cut taking off all the peeling chunks and spray paint the trim black to make it all nice and new again. this equals new looking trim and its cheap too. pics upon request.

Well mine is the inside one, the summers up here fried the plastic that is wrapped around the piece of trim... so I just ripped the rest of it all off.

ahhh i think i know what you guys are talking about now. ugh. i had the worst peeling. what i did was just rip it all out and put new ones in. look for some nice ones at some junkyards or a wrecked car, thats your best bet. i tried riping off the layer that was peeling but it was too much of a pain in the ass. i just left it till i found a new one. its not that hard to find them.

You don't live in SoCal lol
8th gens simply do not crash around here, hence they are not in the junkyard.

Where I'm at, there is about a dozen wrecked 8th gens. About Half of them are so crumbled, there is nothing to really salvage.

well currently im looking for interior parts so its not too hard to actually find something. the only thing that is going to be extremly hard to find is a fender in good shape and same color as my car. damn near impossible. im considering a cluster with a tach but im not sure yet. im also gonna buy sharpshooters electric mirrors.

My corolla is starting to have things break on it. Bumper mount is bad, so it rattles. Driver and rear passenger door locks are bad. Oh well. I don't care anymore. I'll drive it for a little while longer while I get used to my new job.
