Just bought a DSLR camera

lol, damn i have to go there when semester ends!

I started shooting in RAW. Do you guys have any tips on post processing? I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing...

Perhaps some picture comparisons to explain would be cool if someone has the time.

download DxO, your eyes will be opened, it's pretty straight foward.

I use the... higlight priority setting IN the camera with RAW

and in DxO I set the...

DxO -> Raw Color -> Realistic Curve Vivid

this is an example (without the vivid part) but I swear it looked just like the processed one when I was there

PROCESSED, just selecting a preset nothing else, no tweaking no nothing
usually I would set the vivid setting to 20% more, rather than the one recommended to vibe that by default it sets it to 40%, it's colourfull and pretty! but it's not real IMHO... just my taste

Nice, I will try out the program today (installing as I type). I wish I had a highlight priority setting on my Canon 450D .. or is there? lol I use the DPP program for that instead.

Also depends on what you're looking for- if you want depth of field..if you want to capture or freeze motion...etc.

I don't have them around here either- no good camera shops, really. Gotta use the internet.

I bought a nikon d40 ... just need to learn how to do all of that editing , Is it better just to go to bestbuy and buy there editing CD's
