Its very difficult, from my experience you have to cut the rear deck for fitment, as the fitment is for 6 1/2's

    Hope this info helps

I don't think so. I put 6 1/2's in my 2002 corolla. Unless it changed between one year. Which I doubt it did.

If you get component speakers for the front, where is a good place to put the tweeters? (Yeah, I know you'll have to do some cutting).

You can fit whatever sized speakers you want in the back. You just need to cut a little. My friend's been doing that to cars for years.

its 6 1/2...and doors is best place for tweeters right next to the door handle. I did it on mine, i think i posted a finished pic of what it looked like. Front speakers are a little harder to install because of the damn rivets on the doors. its not just screwed in like all the other more expensive cars haha.

I'm going to get mine installed today. The Crutchfield store in Charlottesville VA is only about an hour from my place, so I'm going to have them do it. They did a fantastic job on my Tundra, so I trust them.

Their sales dude assured me that the installers can make the component tweeters work, so I'm crossing my fingers.

They had a deal last month that if you bought two MTX 10" subs, they'd give you a sub box for free. I'm REALLY looking forward to getting that puppy installed. :D

You can fit 6x9 speakers in the rears... if you know what you're doing... and can do some cutting and build wood speaker rings. Also, some 6 1/2 WILL NOT FIT! The baskets may be too big- example: new Infinity reference line, their akwardly designed baskets (metal frame) will not go through the opening. (mine were already enlarged-dremeled for another pair of MB quarts and these still didn't fit) so be careful of what you purchase make sure it'll fit/look at the speaker itself first.

For the front speakers, most 6 1/2 will fit but if it's too tall (mounting depth is not enough) just build a .5" wood speaker ring to mount it. Worked for my MB Quart Premiums, You will also have enough room on the inside of the door panels for crossovers, and put the tweeters (best place IMO before kick panels) in the side view mirror part (assuming you have electric ones)

By the way, I did car audio sales for years... and I did trick my corolla up... 1 12" bandpass box, that shook-1" thick MDF that was lined with fiberglass for structural reinforcement and a TC sounds subwoofer- fed 1k RMS watts to it. I'm selling the box and sub if anybody is interested but it's HEAVY.
